6 AM Road Update

Folks, it’s a cold one this morning. Temperatures across the district range from 3–10 degrees, with even lower wind chills. Crews are out doing what they can, but in temperatures like these even our best deicing agents are no match for black ice.

Some sunshine will help as the morning goes on, so if you’re able to wait a few hours before traveling, that’s a good idea especially in Lawrence county where crews are still dealing with partially covered routes.

If you do have to be out early, expect slick spots, slow down, and use extra caution—especially on bridges and overpasses.

Stay safe, D-12. r

6 PM 12/14/25 Nighttime Road Update

Okay folks, let’s put things into perspective for tonight. We’re forcast to see single-digit temperatures with below-zero wind chills, and in conditions like this our salt and deicing agents are simply no match—especially after nightfall.

Crews have worked around the clock salting and scraping, but travel will be hazardous tonight, particularly in our hardest-hit counties. If you don’t absolutely need to travel, consider sitting this one out.

If you must travel, slow way down, expect slick spots everywhere, and make sure you allow yourself extra time.
Stay safe, D-12.
