A Big Change Announcement. Moving to the East Coast!
Liz and I always say that the big tree (Bella) had plans for us.
We have some pretty big news. We have just closed on a new property and will be leaving California for the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. We have spent 7 years in this beautiful California town. Liz and I both love California and the amazing community we have here, but a huge range of factors, after the tree destroyed our home, made us decide that this move is the right thing. Almost by accident, we discovered the town of Williamstown, MA, an area whose beauty rivals what we have been spoiled by in California, and we fell in love with the area and town immediately. It is extremely rural (It is the area where Norman Rockwell lived and painted), but it is also one of the great centers of art in the United States. One of the country’s best impressionist art collections is in our local Museum (The Clark Institute) we are also about 14 minutes away from the largest contemporary art museum in North America. (Mass MOCA), we are about 30 minutes from Tanglewood as well as the Jacobs Pillow center for dance. There is so much art, music, theater and dance in the area all year, that it is hard to wrap our heads around it.
We found a cool old Farm from the late 1800s with a couple barns, right on a beautiful golf course. The second green is at the end of our property. One of the barns is already renovated with a good spot for the studio, with room for future expansion (including a photo studio). One of the motivating factors for the move and choosing this place is for my business. In the new place, I will finally have my own space for full band tracking again, and plenty of space to start doing my one week “Recording Boot Camp” intensives again. It is also going to make it a lot easier to work with many of my clients on the east coast. It is kind of out in the middle of nowhere, but we will just over 2.5 hours from Boston and 4 hours from Montreal, New York, New Jersey, etc. 75 miles from Woodstock… So, easy for me to get to meetings and events in the city, and a pretty easy drive for clients to make it out to the farm.
We will be doing the move in stages over the next few months. Liz will still be working for a California based organization, and we have lots of business and family reasons to be back in California fairly often.
Liz and I both love, and will miss California, but the new move is really exciting.
