we are looking for someone armed with a smartphone or any kind of camera or audio recorder on the grounds at the Standing Rock (now or in the past) who wants to take part in a not-for-profit social media campaign on the protest. It's only purpose is to help keep getting the word out to the American public and international audiences on what is happening there from the native perspective, with emphasis on environmental and human rights violations, tribal treaty rights, history of the river and reservation context. feel free to share, we are hoping to get a few people interested in supplying content and sharing their experiences with a global audience who in turn would be able to create a dialogue on these important topics. full credit would be given. feel free to share this.

The White House Screening, Discussion For Across the Creek Film Recognizes Native American Contributions

Nov. 30 - PBS Public Square Partners Series: A White House screening and discussion of the film Across the Creek is scheduled Nov. 30 from 5-8 p.m, as part of the PBS Public Square Partners Series.
The screening will be held at the South Court Auditorium of the Eisenhower Office Building.

Across the Creek explores both the unbridled dreams and the painful reality of Lakota people from South Dakota. In the face of unfathomable challenges, they are taking steps to better their lives. In Across the Creek, everyday heroes are turning around negative history and reclaiming traditional stories, visions and core values that once effectively guided healthy, productive tribal life. With few visible examples of positive action, the most powerful strategy is just walking the talk. Or, put another way, by crossing the creek.

Event Schedule:
5 p.m. - Reception, Room 430 Eisenhower Office Building
6:15 p.m. - Opening remarks, South Court Auditorium, Eisenhower Office Building
6:30 p.m. - Film screening, panel discussion and audience Q&A

Admission is free, but reservations are required. Space is limited.**NOTE: All guests must reserve space HERE and submit a White House visitors form, which will be emailed upon RSVP.

This event is hosted by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), The White House, the White House Initiative on American Indian and Alaska Native education (WHIAIANE), the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) and the National Education Association (NEA).

This film was made possible in part with support from the Sundance Institute's Native American and Indigenous Program in association Vision Maker Media with support from The Center for Public Broadcasting and The W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
