To continue celebrating , I’m sharing my experiences volunteering with Muttville Senior Dog Rescue

Last Friday was another busy day at HQ with 18(!!!) dogs staying overnight. These adorable senior doggos kept me busy and helped me get my steps in, setting a new personal record of 7 dogs walked during my shift.

Before I left for the day, Chowder, an adorable Chug plopped himself in my lap for cuddles, kisses and a tiny snooze. I couldn’t resist those eyes, that underbite, or that tiny blep 🥺

If you want to meet sweet senior dogs like Chowder, Muttville Senior Dog Rescue needs fosters and volunteers, especially going into the holiday season.

If you’re unable to adopt at this time, volunteering or fostering are great ways to get your pup fix while helping save dogs lives and socialize them during their transition to their forever homes.

I wrote down some thoughts I had on doing jigsaw puzzles during the COVID-19 pandemic:

Once the pandemic hit, puzzles became one of my many hobbies turned lifelines during what we now refer to as “the...

In December of 2018, I opted for a slower, scenic, and more mindful way to travel during the holiday season. The California Zephyr train runs from the San Francisco Bay Area all the way to Chicago over the course of two and a half days. While giving up the convenience of air travel, I also gladly gave up long security lines and excessive baggage fees. Amtrak’s baggage policy allows two personal items and two carry-on bags per passenger, which meant me, my favorite snacks, comfy blankets, and wrapped presents for loved ones were all along for the cross-country ride without any extra costs.

As we wound our way through the Sierra and Rocky Mountains, I took in breathtaking sights that I wouldn’t ever have seen from an airplane or car. I met people from all over the country while eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining car, where all of my meals were included with my sleeper cabin fare. Pro tip: If you’re not up for socializing over every meal, your car attendant can arrange meal delivery to your room.

Adjusting to the slower pace of train life allowed me to feel like I was on vacation before I had technically started it. It was the perfect remedy for the hectic hustle that holiday travel so often brings. The California Zephyr proves that the old cliche is true: life is about the journey, not the destination.

In early 2020, I was fortunate enough to take a trip with friends to Palm Springs before COVID-19 ramped up in the United States triggering lockdowns and travel restrictions.

I hammed it up at the Cabazon Dinosaurs from P*e Wee's Big Adventure, hiked the world's largest fan palm oasis in Indian Canyon, and gleefully shopped for souvenirs at the Joshua Tree Visitor's Center not yet realizing that this would be my first, last, and only vacation of 2020.

I'm so grateful for the memories we made during this trip and have looked back on them fondly as I've stayed close to home to help .

Where is the last place you traveled to before COVID-19? Where will your next adventure take you when you feel safe enough to travel again?
