BREAKING NEWS:
Cody Roberts, of Daniel, Wyo., pleaded not guilty to a single felony count of animal cruelty for his alleged treatment of a wild wolf. Appearing remotely due to the distance between attorney offices in Laramie and the courtroom in Rock Springs, Roberts was arraigned in Sweetwater County District Court on Monday, Nov. 10. He is charged under Wyoming State Statute 6-3-1005(a)(ii)(2024).
He was indicted by a Sublette County grand jury on Aug. 20 for the Feb. 29, 2024 incident.
Roberts is accused of parading the gravely wounded wolf around the Green River Bar in Daniel. In photos and videos, Roberts is seen leaning in to kiss the wolf as it lies on the floor of the tavern with its muzzle tightly bound by red tape. The animal also appears to be wearing a hunting collar capable of delivering electric shocks as well as GPS tracking.
The case is set for trial in the 9th Judicial District Court on March 9.
