The Tensas Basin Levee District votes to close the Diversional Canal Levee Rd. The Diversion Canal levee from Hwy 28 East to Larto Lake will be closed to the public effective April 1,2027. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife will take over the portion of the levee from Hwy 28east to Hunt Bridge so that there will be public access to Dewey Wills WMA. The remaining portion of the levee from hunt bridge to Larto Lake will be gated with available access to private land owners only who own land directly along the levee. There will no longer be public access from Hwy 28East to Larto Lake.
