The September Issues

The September Issues All Women Contributors Magazine Without rules, we’re asking what creativity looks like outside the usual circumstances in which we create.

The September Issues is a biannual fashion and beauty magazine that embodies The Power of the Femme in a unique and expansive way: we are the only magazine made by women, with solely female contributors. The September Issues is a space for liberated self-expression, and a platform to build community where we, as artists and women, can speak our truths in the most unfiltered, fulfilling way. As a d

iverse, ever-evolving group of voices, The September Issues is a source for learning and sharing ideas of identity, discovering rituals and ceremony, celebrating pioneers both known and undiscovered, and exchanging the vast storytelling of women’s lives through many vocabularies - visual, intellectual, and expressive. We are looking to fund this magazine in a way that gives back to womens programs. Brands that advertise in our magazine will do so knowing that they are also donating to a specific organization that supports women. A portion of our sales will also go to the program as well. For the first issue, we are choosing Planned Parenthood. Our magazine’s most important investors are the contributors and their voices, and the readers who can experience a fresh voice in beauty and fashion. We hope to redefine the terms of what a magazine can be, one that speaks to community and creativity first in a newly authentic way.

The speed and motion of her brushstrokes over each glossy photograph are explicit statements against our homogenous ideals of beauty. They at once express dynamism and vibrancy, rawness and aggression, softness and vulnerability. Violent and gentle strokes combined represent the multiplicity of the woman depicted in the image as much as the woman painting them — as do her kisses⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In Jess’ Kiss Works, a tender peck is thrust into vehemence when applied as a means to distort. Whether she’s planting a kiss or smearing rouged pigment, makeup as a medium is an integral part of Jess’ practice. Extinction Rebellion is an official rebellion against governments and organized groups who contribute to the decline of our environmental reality. Too long have people fought for a greener, better future for our planet. Too many promises have been made and broken. The loss of biodiversity has rendered land uninhabitable and unfarmable. There is a massive climate breakdown raising temperatures every year. And each year, more and more natural disasters occur. Many current forms of life will be extinct by the end of this century, and humankind or at least our way of life is included in that. Everything about our consumer driven lifestyles interferes with our environments. Even if we survive, our lands will be ruined and we will starve. There is no time to wait.
