Photoshop Artistry begins with images which are digitally synthesized in Photoshop with filters, adjustment layers and blend modes. Multiple textures are used along with color overlays, color balance adjustment and other coloring techniques for the final effects. Some images may be digitally painted.

Decided to work with a black and white image for a change. Used one of my images, NIK Silver Efex Pro for the first step of B/W conversion and loads of work in PS to paint back in all the edge hair. Added a sky, foreground and lots of dust and dirt. Finished with lighting.

I didn't title this painting backgrounds because this course is much more than just painting backgrounds with a mixer brush. It includes detailed step-by-step videos on how I hand paint my scenic backgrounds for my competition art as well as walk-throughs on how I use textures to build my backgrounds for my artistic creations. I updated the table of all my moodboard codes today on this previous blog post. If you use midjourney you're gonna want to go grab these. The ones I'm using the most that are creating some excellent results are the Bohemian, Ethereal Dreamscape, Misty Teal and Orange, Playful Whimsy, Renaissance, Surreal Whimsy and Whimsical.
