I’m putting trim around a project and I need help figuring out how to cut it so it meets another piece of moulding flush? I don’t have a band saw (and not going to buy one just for this). Any other ideas on how to trim it out, or cheap/affordable saws/tools to help?

Tiling shower over an alcove tub with an offset vertical accent mosaic. How to align primary subway tile?
I am installing 4x8 subway tile in the standard horizontal 1/2 offset pattern. There is a niche on the longest wall spaces 2/3 toward the back wall with accent tile running vertically through tub to ceiling as in these pictures I grabbed online.

Once the accent is in, do I lay out the subway as if the accent weren’t there, and center in the full wall and cut tiles to size as they meet the mosaic? Or center the tiles in the two sections of the long wall individually to the mosaic? I can’t find any examples of this with smaller tiles, only LFT like in these photos.

Tile or Grout for recessed niche??

Hello everyone,

Recently purchased a condo and need some advice on one of my bathrooms. There’s a horizontal band of tile and 2 recessed niches that appear to not have been caulked/ grouted that well. I’m thinking about filling the areas with caulk but wanted to see what’s best. I am concerned that moisture will build up in these crevices and develop mold/ mildew within the wall. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thank you so much!

Wife started a DIY stick-on floor tile project in one of our spare bathrooms, and I’ve come to the point where the more technical cuts are upon me. I have a novice amount of experience in construction, mostly roughing and mostly electrical, with very little experience in finish, especially flooring or any type.

I’ve seen the nifty little stencil creating things you find on Amazon, etc. but am wondering if anyone has any tips that could easily be done that don’t involve buying a special jig for it (although I realize those tools probably come in handy for many thing, and i should probably just buy them).

Well a few months ago i posted asking what kind of floors i have. Decided to lay hardwood over the floors. I live in a 125 year old house and decided that i wanted to try to keep as much of the look and feel of an old house as possible. I sanded the floors down to 120 and will be using tung oil to finish tomorrow. Very excited and love the way the floors came out. Only had two spots where the drum sander grooved the floors down cause i bumped into something

Also please ignore my sh*tty drywall lumps. That was also my first time doing that.

My wife and I are new homeowners, and have never had this type of flooring. The edges of some boards are showing splits and one decided to break off completely today. We are not sure if we want to try to replace the boards one by one as some crack, or replace with a type of tile. Right now we are getting a couple of rugs to cover for the moment. Does anyone have any advice on what steps I could take? Happy new years!
