History forgot one of Louisiana’s greatest doctors.

In the 1940s, Dr. Guy Henry Faget worked at the National Leprosarium in Carville, where people with Hansen’s disease were isolated from the world behind barbed wire. While others believed the disease couldn’t be treated, Faget proved otherwise by leading the successful use of Promin, changing medicine forever.

His work gave hope to thousands, yet his name is rarely taught today.
