Bobby Stuckey doesn’t mince words. Air Jordans go up. Louboutins go up. NBA tickets go up. Nobody writes an article. But the second a restaurant raises its prices?

A master class in Friuli wine in under 90 seconds.

Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey breaks it down west to east — from crisp Pinot Grigio in the Grave to Sauvignon Blanc on Ponca soil to the white blends of Rosazzo to Gravner representing Oslavia. He names four. The fifth? You’ll have to watch the full episode to find out.

And he wants you to know one thing before you do: not all of Friuli is orange wine.

What would your fifth bottle be? Drop it in the comments — then check the full episode to see if Bobby agrees with you.

Been quiet this week, so I figured I’d check in from my favorite room in North Carolina.

I’m at the Fearrington Inn — a Relais & Châteaux property here in Pittsboro — where we record all our interviews. Just got off the phone with Pepe Raventós of Raventós i Blanc, and I have to say, that conversation is going to be something special. Cava history, a new DO he’s creating, and a lot more. That one drops in two weeks.

Before that, Bobby Stuckey this Tuesday. Owner of Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, one of the great American wine restaurants. We went deep on Friuli, Italian wine, and what hospitality actually means right now. Don’t sleep on that one.

More soon. Drink deliciously.

What wine would you compare the Knicks to? Drop it in the comments.

They’re not Burgundy. Too obvious. Too easy.

They’re Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge. That’s right Mourvèdre. Power. Silky tannins. Robust fruit. Plays 9 or 10 deep on any given night. Last night nobody scored 20 and they put up 130 — because the collective is the point.

Not on everyone’s radar. But when it shows up, it shows up big.

Everything you need to complete your table.

VOS Selections V Trump- the existential moment.

When illegal wine tariffs threatened to destroy his business, the case was there. The lawyers were ready. All he had to do was say yes.

But yes meant risking everything he’d built over 40 years against the most powerful office in the world.

This is Victor Owen Schwartz on why duty won.

One wine importer sued Donald Trump over tariffs and won at the Supreme Court 6-3.
Bonus Episode 45 is live today.
This is the moment Victor Owen Schwartz found out he’d be the one to carry the case.
Victor built VOS Selections over 40 years importing fine wine from around the world. When IEEPA tariffs hit in April 2025, operating on 5% margins with no room to absorb the blow, he made a decision almost no one else was willing to make — he sued the federal government as lead plaintiff in VOS Selections v. Donald Trump.

Two winemakers. One Zulu, one Boer. The first voluntary 50/50 black-white wine company in South Africa — not by mandate, by friendship.
This is how MR de Compostela was born. Bruwer asked Mzo: if a winemaking genie appeared and granted you one wish, what would it be?
Mzo’s answer built South Africa’s most iconic wine.
If the genie appeared for you — what’s your wish? 👇
