Pittsburg HS 2020 alum Gavyn Elkamil, now reclassified to 2021 at Link Year Prep where he won’t use any collegiate eligibility this season, signing with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at the Division I level. Nice to see all the hours of hard work and gym time pay off to play college basketball for a group of five program in the American Athletic Conference. Tulsa won the AAC regular season championship last season. Elkamil, a 6’4” combo guard, was a 3-time all state pick at Sports in Kansas in 5A.

Following her third-straight Big 12 Championship, Cailie Logue was named the 2020 Big 12 Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year. Logue captures the title as ‘Women’s Runner of the Year’ for the third time in her career. 🥇🏃‍♀️

Iowa State senior and Girard alumna Cailie Logue does it once again!! Logue becomes the 2020 Big 12 XC Champion for the third straight year. 👀 The title ties the record for most in conference history. Logue is also currently the second four-time All-Big 12 runner in a school history (Perez Rotich).

Not a Crawford County story (or even a Kansas story for that matter) but amazing nonetheless. In suburban Tampa, a high school's JV volleyball squad stepped up when their varsity squad was quarantined due to COVID-19 and won the district championship. Actually, there is a distant Kansas tie -- former Louisburg Wildcat Mandy Knipp is on the Steinbrenner High School varsity team.

2018 East QBs from the Kansas Shrine Bowl meeting up at the TCU vs Kansas State game yesterday. Jack Blumer, the Sports in Kansas 3A POY as a senior at Marysville, now a punter at Kansas State. Blumer was the 2018 Shrine Bowl MVP as a QB and picked up his spot to Kansas State while punting at the Shrine Bowl a month before college started. Chase Curtis, a three sport all-state pick at Sports in Kansas from Pittsburg High School, now a WR/ATH, at TCU. Curtis played baseball at Neosho prior to joining TCU this fall where he’s added 40 lbs since HS. Cool to see under the radar Kansas kids get a shot in the Big 12
