My heart melts and breaks at what I see on my home cameras throughout the day. Doc and Sarge, from 4am when I leave the house until 4pm when I finally get home, will just patiently lay and wait, staring at the door and jumping up on the couch to look out of the window at any hint of my return home.
That's 50% of my life away from the boys, but worse yet, it's half of their short lives just waiting for Daddy to get home. I'm sacrificing a lot and still have my head just below water, but God damn, does the stress of it all completely melt away when I'm with them.
Sarge in particular is made, down to his quantum particles, of love for me and you can see it in his eyes effortlessly. Pure, unconditional, and to the grave, both of them are a gift from the universe that nothing short of death will ever separate me from.
At the end of it all, I really hope it worth it...
