This last weekend at the Penn's Colony Festival - Sat., Sept. 29 10-6p and Sun., Sept. 30 10-5p
Historian Mike Homza tells the “Hidden History” of Frances Slocum, a white child who was abducted from her Quaker family near Wilkes-Barre, PA, the Wyoming Valley by the Delaware Indians. Lived her life with her adoptive Indian family for the rest of her life, but remembered she was a white girl with her light skin and flaming red hair. Through Slocum’s history -- love, intrigue, divorce and murder -- we learn the true story of the relationship between the Indian Tribes and the white settlers of the time. Hear the verbal history of Frances Slocum by Mike Homza at 1:30 p.m., Kuskusky Clearing Stage 2.
