Why is Ray’s Women’s Weekend important? Because this event changes riders’ lives for the better. Whether you are a first-time rider or experienced we can share the same love for two wheels under one roof. We can see like-minded women riding in a park together, bringing stoke, cheering each other on, full of joy watching others do scary things and succeed, while also feeling like you belong within a community of shredding ladies. We are often the ones who take care of the world, the ones who put others’ wants and needs over our own. But for one February Friday afternoon in Cleveland, Ohio ladies from all over the world can come together to focus on our own goals and dreams while doing it in a safe space to be vulnerable around others. By closing the doors to the public for 4 hours, Ray’s MTB Park hosts coaching classes where riders can walk the line, ask questions and get feedback to ride safely around the park. By slowing things down we are giving ladies the feedback they need to have better control of their bike, to ride harder terrain, be more confident and ride their bike more. When a girl is confident on her bike that’s when we see you and say “you go girl” when you ride by. We are proud to see you are working on yourself and loving life on a bike.
This year Ride Like A Girl was given the honor to host this year’s event, and we celebrated 16 years of bringing the community of women on bikes together. This event began back in 2008 when founder Nina Buitrago approached owner Ray Petro about having an event and space just for the ladies to ride and try new things. So Nina built an event around the cycling community and invited the ladies to Ray’s and now we are here. My biggest goal for the year was to lock in more coaches to help the community grow. This year’s coaching lineup was myself, .trine .washam
