BREAKING NEWS:

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Nick Herbig have agreed to a four-year, $100 million extension with $42 million guaranteed, locking up one of the franchise’s rising young pass rushers through the 2030 season.

Russell Wilson had at least one NFL backup offer on the table this offseason, but the former Steelers quarterback is taking a different route for now...

Wilson is reportedly joining CBS’ NFL Today instead of signing as a backup, though he is not officially retiring.

A pretty big career turn for a quarterback who was Pittsburgh’s starter just two seasons ago.

The Steelers’ backfield conversation is going to center on who the “starter” is, but that label only tells part of the story...

With Jaylen Warren coming off the most productive season of his career and Rico Dowdle coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, Pittsburgh has two backs with real roles to sort through.

Dowdle’s no-nonsense running style fits on early downs and in the low red zone, while Warren’s three-down skillset and pass protection make him too important to take off the field in key situations.

The Steelers’ run game should be a strength again. The real question is how that division of labor comes together.

Daylen Everette is already receiving rave reviews at Steelers OTAs...

The third-round rookie cornerback has impressed defensive pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach Jason Simmons with humility, poise, and confidence, even while getting work against a star like DK Metcalf.

“When I think about him, I think about humility,” Simmons said. “He’s played in a lot of big games coming from Georgia... You talk about being receptive to coaching? He absolutely is. He is a sponge. He’s a bright guy, and the next thing is his poise as well.”

“And when you say you’re going against a quality receiver, like DK Metcalf, he doesn’t let that take him out of his technique, and I love the confidence.”

Six OTAs into Mike McCarthy’s first offseason in Pittsburgh, we’re getting the first real look at what changed around the building...

For years, Pittsburgh had one of the cheapest and smallest coaching staffs in the league. McCarthy reversed that trend with a group built on experience, depth and familiarity. Secondary coach/assistant head coach Joe Whitt Jr., who has worked with McCarthy for years, said he understands how McCarthy wants things done and is there to help the players and coaches.

The full OTA notebook also gets into Sebastian Joseph-Day’s “I play everything” role on the defensive line, the early picture on the right side of the offensive line and the Roman Wilson/Germie Bernard slot battle, plus more 👇

Patrick Queen is heading into the final year of his three-year Steelers contract with plenty of uncertainty still hanging over his future in Pittsburgh...

On Thursday, he addressed the offseason trade rumors and where things stand with his contract situation.

“There was [contract] talks here and there, nothing crazy. Obviously, I’ve seen the whole charade that went on over this offseason, but there’s talks. Obviously, no movement, either way, and at the end of the day, they’ve got business to handle, I’ve got business to handle, and my business is to go out there and play the best football I can and put myself in a good position, put our team in a good position, so we both can be successful.”

“If they do wanna extend, cool. If not, cool.”

The Steelers have a long history of success with UDFAs, including Donnie Shell, James Harrison and Jaylen Warren, just to name a few...

This year’s undrafted rookie class might have a tougher path to making the team than usual, though.

A new projection gives Pittsburgh the lowest odds in the NFL of having even one UDFA make the initial 53-man roster, but Lake McRee, Devan Boykin, and Kevin Jobity Jr. are among the names with the highest chances because of the roster opportunities available.
