Who was she?
Maila Nurmi. A Finnish-American actress who created the character of Vampira in 1954 . She slinked into living rooms dressed in a black gown that looked like it was made from a spider's web, delivering horror with a sardonic grin . She was the original queen of the dark.

The Legacy:
She was gone in just a few years . But she set the template for every horror host that followed. The attitude. The wit. The hair.
