"I woke up early on the morning of Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 to find a bunch of texts from multiple people that had been sent overnight. They said things like “I’m sorry” and “Let me know if you need anything” — you know, the kind of texts you get when something bad has happened. Puzzled, I brought up a news site on my phone, and the context of these texts became clear, David Bowie had died."

Country music singer Crystal Gayle was born today in 1951. She made her debut in 1970 with the song "I've Cried (The Blue Right Out of My Eyes)" - a song written by her sister, Loretta Lynn.

In 1977, Crystal Gayle had a big hit with the song "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue." Since it seems like eyes are her specialty, today let's find some other songs that mention eye colors.

Carly Simon had a big hit with her scathing song "You're So Vain." Inspired by a few bad experiences with a few different guys, it captured listeners' attention as they tried to figure out exactly who she was singing about.

"You're So Vain" hit #1 in the US today in 1973 and remains a bit of a mystery. Years after the song came out, Simon revealed that one of the people who inspired it was Warren Beatty, but the others are still up for speculation.

Let's take some inspiration from Carly Simon today and find some other songs that are catchy, but kind of mean.

Bruce Springsteen introduced himself in fine fashion today in 1973 when he released his debut album - “Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.”

While the album didn’t produce any hit singles for The Boss, it laid a solid foundation for what we could expect to see in years to come - solid songwriting and earnest lyrics backed up by a hell of a good band.

Let’s celebrate the anniversary of Springsteen’s debut today by sharing some other albums with cities in their titles.
