✨ He was surrounded by an environment that was far from godly. Eli’s sons were corrupt, and Scripture says they “did not know the LORD.” — 1 Samuel 2:12

Yet Samuel was different.
“Samuel ministered before the LORD.” — 1 Samuel 2:18

Samuel’s environment did not determine his intimacy with GOD.
But he had proximity to GOD.

🔥 That is the lesson: your environment does not have to determine your sensitivity to GOD. But you can still choose: “As for me, I will draw near to GOD.”

❤️ In the same way, our hearts must be surrendered and attentive to GOD. Not because the Holy Spirit is far away—He dwells in every believer. But because our hearts can become distracted, hardened, disobedient, or consumed by other voices. The closer we walk with GOD, the more sensitive we become to His leading.

The Holy Spirit is not silent.
🕊️ The Holy Spirit wants to guide you.
🕊️ The Holy Spirit wants to teach you.
🕊️ The Holy Spirit wants to lead you into truth.

💫 But don't chase voices. Know the Word. Test what you hear. Walk in obedience.
The Holy Spirit will never contradict the Scriptures He inspired.

💥 So perhaps the question isn't: “Why doesn't GOD speak to me?”
Maybe the better question is:
“Am I staying close enough to GOD to recognize His leading?”

🙏 Take a moment today and pray:
“Holy Spirit, make my heart sensitive to Your leading. Help me recognize Your voice through Your Word, discern what is true, and give me the courage to obey what You reveal.”

✨ Have you ever wondered:
“Why don’t I seem to hear GOD like I used to?”

💫 Maybe you pray, read your Bible, and seek Him—but there seems to be a distance. The story of Eli gives us something serious to consider. Eli’s story reminds us that a lack of spiritual sensitivity should not always be dismissed as:

“That’s just how I am.”
“Maybe GOD doesn’t speak to me.”
“I’m just not one of those spiritually sensitive people.”

💥 Sometimes we need to ask a harder question:
Is there something I am tolerating that I know does not please the LORD?

Eli’s failure was not simply that he didn't know what was happening. He knew what his sons were doing, yet he failed to deal with it as he should.

❤️ And that is where this becomes personal. Sometimes it isn't only about what we are doing. It can also be about what we are allowing. The danger of tolerating compromise is that what once bothered your conscience can eventually become normal to your heart.

🙏 Sin can dull spiritual sensitivity.
Jesus warned about hearts becoming “dull” and ears becoming hard of hearing.

But here's the good news:
GOD does not expose something in us to destroy us. He exposes it to restore us.

👉 If the Holy Spirit is convicting you, don't run from Him. Repent. Surrender. Obey. Don't ask only:
“LORD, why aren't You speaking?”

Ask:
“LORD, is there anything in my life that I am tolerating that grieves You?”

Then be willing to let it go.

✨ Have you ever prayed, “LORD, speak to me…” and then heard nothing? You’re not alone. There may be several reasons why we struggle to recognize GOD’s voice.

1️⃣ THEOLOGICAL CESSATIONISM
Sometimes a false belief becomes like an earplug.
If we believe, “GOD doesn’t speak anymore,” we may stop expecting Him to lead, convict, teach, or guide us.
The Bible is complete and is our final authority—but that does not mean GOD is distant or silent.

2️⃣ PRACTICAL DISAPPOINTMENT
Maybe you prayed. You fasted. You cried out, “LORD, please speak to me!” And… nothing seemed to happen. After enough disappointment, you may stop asking. But silence does not necessarily mean absence.
Sometimes GOD is teaching us to wait, trust, search His Word, and remain faithful even when we don't immediately understand what He is doing.

3️⃣ SPIRITUAL ABUSE OR MANIPULATION
Some people have heard spiritual leaders say, “GOD told me…” to manipulate, dominate, or control others. That can create fear and confusion.
But someone else's misuse of GOD's name should never become the reason you stop seeking GOD Himself.

4️⃣ FEAR OF GETTING IT WRONG
“What if that's not GOD?” “What if I misunderstand?" “What if I make a mistake?”
That fear can become louder than our desire to know Him.
We don't need to become obsessed with chasing voices. We need to become deeply rooted in Scripture, prayer, wisdom, and obedience so we can discern what is truly from GOD.

5️⃣ FEELING UNWORTHY
Perhaps the deepest struggle is this:
"I'm not spiritual enough." "I'm not a pastor." "I'm not a leader."
"Why would GOD speak to someone like me?"

💫 But GOD does not call only the spiritually elite to know Him.
Samuel was still learning when he heard GOD calling his name.
The invitation is not:
“Become important enough for GOD to speak to you.”
The invitation is:
“Come near. Seek Me. Know Me. Listen to Me.”

❤️ Hearing GOD is not a spiritual status symbol.
It is about relationship with your Heavenly Father.
And as we grow in knowing Him, we learn to recognize His voice—always measuring what we hear against the truth of His Word.

✨ Jesus didn’t say, “Only the apostles know My voice.”
He didn’t say, “Only pastors, prophets, theologians, or spiritual elites know My voice.” He said, “My sheep know My voice.”

💫 That means knowing His voice is part of belonging to Him.
Think about it: If you have a close relationship with someone, you learn to recognize their voice. You know when they are calling you, even before you see them. In the same way, as we grow in our relationship with GOD, we learn to recognize His voice.

📖 The Bible is complete and is the final authority for our faith. But that does not mean GOD has become silent. We must be careful, however, because not every voice we hear is GOD’s voice. Our emotions, desires, fears, other people, and even deception can speak loudly.

💥 That is why we must test everything against Scripture.
The more we know GOD through His Word, the more familiar His voice becomes—and the better equipped we are to recognize what is truly from Him.

🐑 His sheep listen.
❤️ His sheep recognize.
👣 His sheep follow.

🙏 Are you taking time to know GOD’s voice, or are you allowing every other voice to become louder than His? Spend time with GOD today. Open His Word. Pray. Listen. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you recognize and follow the voice of your Shepherd.

✨ If the heart loves recognition, obedience will become performance.
If we simply say, "We should enjoy obeying GOD," people may misunderstand what obedience really is. They may think obedience is one thing and enjoying GOD is something separate—something optional that can be added if we happen to feel like it.

📖 But biblical obedience goes much deeper than that.
The enjoyment of GOD is not an accessory to obedience. It is the affection of the heart from which true obedience flows. In other words, obedience is never just about external actions. It is always connected to what the heart loves, values, and delights in.

💫 Otherwise, we could easily imagine a person who outwardly obeys GOD while their heart is cold toward Him—no love, no delight, no affection, no joy in His presence. But that is not the obedience GOD is after. Imagine someone saying:

"I don't love GOD. I don't enjoy His presence. I don't treasure His Word. My heart is not satisfied in Him—but I still do everything He commands."

Would that reflect a heart transformed by grace? Would that be the kind of obedience that pleases GOD?

❤️ Jesus makes it clear that GOD is never satisfied with outward religion that is disconnected from the heart:
"This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. In vain do they worship Me." — Matthew 15:8–9

The issue is not simply what we do, but what our hearts love while we do it. Because the heart is the control center of our affections.

🔸 If the heart loves the world, obedience will feel like a burden.
🔸 If the heart loves self, obedience will feel like restriction.
🔸 If the heart loves recognition, obedience will become performance.
🔸 If the heart is far from GOD, obedience becomes empty routine.

• A person can go to church while their heart is captivated by other things.
• They can sing worship songs while their affections are elsewhere.
• They can serve faithfully while secretly craving approval.
• They can obey outwardly while inwardly resisting GOD.

🙏 This is why Scripture constantly calls us back to the heart. True obedience is rooted in love for GOD, and love is not merely action—it is affection. We must not separate obedience from delight in GOD.

🤍 When GOD writes His Word on our hearts, He does not only give us instructions—He reshapes our desires. Through His grace, our affections begin to change. We start to see His commands not as burdens, but as expressions of His wisdom and goodness.

💥 So the real question is not only: “Am I obeying GOD?”
But also: “What does my heart love most as I obey Him?”
Because genuine obedience is not the body acting apart from the heart.
True obedience is the heart loving GOD—and the whole life flowing from that love.

✨ Most of us are very familiar with certain emotions. We know how to fear. We know disappointment. We know anger, bitterness, anxiety, self-pity, and discouragement. These affections often come naturally because we live in a fallen world with fallen hearts.

💫 Yet when Scripture commands us to hope, rejoice, love, be tenderhearted, delight in GOD, or be free from fear, we quickly realize something important: we cannot simply switch our affections on and off by an act of willpower.
You cannot manufacture these holy affections by sheer determination.

❤️ This is exactly why Jesus came.
He did not come merely to change our outward behavior or create religious people who pretend to have emotions they do not possess. He came to give us new hearts and to do in us what we could never do for ourselves.

The rich young ruler is a powerful example. Jesus told him, "Sell all that you have, give to the poor, and follow Me, and you will have treasure in heaven." The issue was not money itself. The issue was the man's heart. He loved his possessions more than he loved Christ. He walked away sorrowful because he could not simply decide to love Jesus more than his wealth. His deepest affection remained unchanged.

💥 This reveals a profound truth: the greatest problem of humanity is not merely wrong behavior but misplaced affections.
That is why the work of GOD's grace reaches deeper than external obedience. Through the Holy Spirit, GOD changes what we love. He teaches us to treasure Christ above every earthly pleasure and to delight in Him as our greatest joy. What He commands, He also supplies through His grace. The Holy Spirit awakens holy affections, opening our eyes to the beauty, glory, and worth of Christ until our hearts begin to delight in Him.

📖 This is true obedience—not forced compliance but joyful affection.
When our hearts truly delight in GOD, obedience is no longer a heavy burden. We obey because we love Him. We worship because we treasure Him. We serve because our hearts have been captured by His grace. This is the miracle of the Christian life.

➡️ The Christian life is not about pretending to feel what we do not feel. It is about GOD transforming our hearts so that our affections increasingly reflect His own beauty and glory. The more we behold Christ, the more our love for Him grows. Fear begins to give way to faith. Bitterness is replaced with forgiveness. Anxiety yields to hope. Self-pity gives way to gratitude. Earthly treasures lose their grip as Christ becomes our greatest treasure. This is the work of effectual grace.

✨ GOD does not merely command us to love Him—He graciously transforms our hearts so that we increasingly enjoy obeying Him, delight in His presence, and find our deepest satisfaction in Him.

✨ The greatest commandment is clear:
"You shall love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."
This command cannot be reduced to outward obedience, religious activities, or acts of sheer willpower. Love for GOD is not merely doing the right things—it is first a matter of the heart.

💫 Imagine people singing worship songs on Sunday, praying publicly, serving in ministry, defending biblical truth, caring for the poor, or standing for justice. These are all good works. Yet if their hearts are far from GOD, Jesus says their worship is vain—empty of its true purpose. Why? Because the movement of our lips, hands, feet, or even our will is not, by itself, the essence of loving GOD. Love for GOD begins in the heart.

❤️ The heart is the center of our affections—where we treasure, delight in, and cling to what we value most. The soul, mind, and strength are not separate replacements for the heart; rather, they express what the heart truly loves. When the heart delights in GOD, the mind gladly meditates on His truth. The will joyfully obeys His commands. The lips sincerely praise Him. The hands willingly serve Him. The whole person becomes an expression of genuine love flowing from inward affection.

💭 The mind also has an important role. As we fill it with the truth of God's Word, it becomes like kindling placed upon a fire, fueling the heart's love for GOD. The more we behold His beauty, holiness, grace, and glory, the more our affections are stirred to delight in Him.

💥 This is why holy affections matter so deeply.
Without hearts that treasure GOD, our religious activities become empty rituals. We may attend church, sing loudly, give generously, serve faithfully, and appear devoted, yet if our hearts find no delight in GOD Himself, we have missed the very heart of the greatest commandment.

True obedience is not merely outward compliance—it is the overflow of inward affection.

🤍 To love GOD with all our heart is to treasure Him above every earthly pleasure, to savor His goodness, rest in His promises, delight in His presence, and find our deepest satisfaction in Him.

🙌 When our hearts belong to GOD, everything else follows. Our worship becomes authentic, our obedience becomes joyful, and our lives bear witness that He is our greatest treasure.

➡️ The root of genuine Christianity is not merely what our hands do, but what our hearts love. Every act of worship, every sacrifice, and every act of service finds its true worth only when it flows from a heart captivated by GOD.

🙏 Let this truth search your heart today—don’t settle for outward religion when GOD is after your affection. Ask Him to renew your heart, to restore your first love, and to make Him your greatest treasure again. Worship Him not just with your lips, but with a heart fully alive to His glory.

✨ One of the most astonishing truths in Scripture is this: the grand design of GOD's effectual grace is to restore the human heart to Himself. From creation to redemption, GOD's purpose has never been merely to change our behavior—it has always been to transform our hearts.

💫 Sin turned our affections away from GOD and toward the world. But through Jesus Christ, GOD works by His grace to recover what was lost: hearts that delight in Him, treasure Him, and love Him above all else.

📖 The great aim of creation and redemption is that GOD's glory would be magnified as His people savor Him, relish His goodness, rest in His promises, and find their deepest satisfaction in all that He is for us in Christ. To love GOD with all our heart is to treasure Him above every earthly pleasure. It is to savor His presence, delight in His beauty, rest in His faithfulness, and find our complete satisfaction in Him. From these holy affections flows every genuine act of obedience, worship, and service.

❤️ Without love for GOD, even the greatest outward acts of religion lose their true value. We may perform duties, make sacrifices, or endure suffering for His name, but if these do not flow from a heart that genuinely loves and delights in Him, they fall short of the obedience GOD desires.

💥 The evidence of a redeemed life is not merely what we do for GOD but whom we treasure above all else. Ultimately, loving GOD defines who we are. It reveals where our hearts truly belong. Those who have been born again increasingly delight in the LORD because the Holy Spirit has changed their hearts. They do not simply obey God's commands—they grow to love the One who gave them.

👉 When GOD becomes our greatest affection, every part of life begins to reflect His glory. Our worship becomes sincere, our obedience becomes joyful, and our lives become a testimony that He alone is our highest treasure, our greatest delight, and our eternal satisfaction.

❤️ To Be Spiritually Minded Is to Love GOD Above All 🤍

✨ Without spiritual affections, we cannot be spiritually minded.
To be spiritually minded is more than knowing about GOD—it is delighting in Him. Spiritual affections are the Holy Spirit's work in our hearts, enabling us to savor GOD, relish His presence, rest in His promises, and find our deepest satisfaction in Him.

💫 The world offers temporary pleasures, but only GOD can satisfy the soul forever. When our hearts treasure Him above everything else, our minds naturally become fixed on what is eternal rather than what is temporary.

📖 This is the heart of Jesus' greatest commandment:
"Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." — Mark 12:30

💥 Loving GOD is not merely an emotion or an obligation. It is the Spirit-produced affection that treasures Him above all else.
