We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate the opening of American Stories: From Revolution to Rockwell at the Norman Rockwell Museum. This once-in-a-lifetime exhibit fills every gallery in the museum with works spanning centuries of American art and illustration. Alongside Rockwell’s iconic images are works that challenge, expand, question, and reimagine the stories we’ve told ourselves about our nation’s identity.

The exhibition explores everything from patriotism and sacrifice to immigration, social justice, identity, myth-making, and the symbols that shape our collective understanding of America. As chief curator Stephanie Plunkett puts it, illustration is “the people’s art,” a medium that has helped define America for generations.

Head to the link in our bio to read America Illustrated by Neil Turitz, and make your way to the Norman Rockwell Museum to experience American Stories for yourself, open today through October 26, 2026.

If you’ve ever side-eyed a neighbor’s Amazon deliveries, gotten overly invested in a local Facebook group argument, or quietly questioned whether everyone else somehow learned the rules to hosting the “perfect” gathering except you… Courtney Maum sees you.

The Litchfield County author’s sharp, funny new novel, Alan Opts Out, follows a couple unraveling in very different ways during the pandemic, with one retreating to a treehouse while the other chases the performance of a perfect life through themed parties and increasingly elaborate flower arrangements.

It’s ultra witty and painfully observant (and just close enough to home to make you wonder who inspired what).

Happy pub day, Courtney—we’re so proud of you! Give Cowboy a smooch for us!

The art of tattooing has become a house specialty of the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. It’s probably going to stay that way. Permanently.

For our Early Summer issue, we spoke with three area tattoo artists about the evolution of the medium, the communities forming around it, and the deeply personal nature of making art that lives on skin.

From fine-line experimentation and folklore-inspired blackwork to playful “ignorant style” illustrations, these artists are helping shape a regional tattoo scene that feels distinctly its own.

A paper shopping bag at the North Egremont transfer station held what looked like broken pieces of glass. What emerged instead were memories of a Berkshire summer from more than 125 years ago.

This photograph in particular shows a happy group at a boat launch in town, which just so happens to be where The Cliff House restaurant stands now, upon the shore of Prospect Lake.

For our Early Summer issue, Juliane Hiam traces the story behind a set of discarded 19th-century glass plate negatives and the quiet realization that the people who came before us loved this place in many of the same ways we still do now.

“Who were they?” She writes, “They are us, and we are them.”

Twenty years ago, Kelley Vickey started The Berkshire International Film Festival because—in her words—“I needed a job.”

This weekend, the festival celebrates its massive milestone anniversary, with two decades cementing it as a Berkshire cultural institution. BIFF brings together filmmakers, actors, documentarians, students, and movie lovers alike, in a way that feels uniquely personal to this region.

For our Early Summer issue, we gathered the people who built this festival to tell the story of how BIFF came to life, survived the pandemic, and grew into one of the coolest film festivals in the world.

There’s music in the air, and we’re not mad about it 😍

From folk legends and indie icons to avant-garde jazz, klezmer, reggae, chamber pop, and performance art, this summer’s concert calendar is especially stacked.

Whether you’re heading to Tanglewood for Judy Collins’ farewell tour, catching Lucy Dacus at MASS MoCA (!!!), spending a night at the Mahaiwe, or discovering something entirely unexpected at a smaller venue, there’s no shortage of reasons to get out and listen.

We’ve rounded up some of the season’s standout performances across the Berkshires and beyond in our Early Summer issue, available now at the link in our bio 🔗

IT’S HEREEEEEE! The B’s Early Summer 2026 issue has arrived and it is looking so, so good! 🤩

This issue is jam-packed with everything you could need to know about arts, culture, and entertainment in the Berkshires this summer, plus a new restaurant that we can’t wait to try and finds from around the area that we’re excited to shop for now that the sunshiney days have returned. There’s even some magic… and candy!

As always, we’ll dive into stories by Berkshire voices and tidbits of local life, and you’ll find extensive calendars for concerts, galas, and more.

A great big thank you to illustrator extraordinaire Aaron Meshon for lending his talents to this issue’s cover, as well as helping us bring to life a very special article, “The ABC’s of an Extraordinary Summer”—we truly could not be more grateful!

Head over to thebberkshires.com to dive into Early Summer now, or pick up an issue around town ☀️

We originally wanted Yo-Yo Ma for the cover of the next issue, but we got this guy instead.

Honestly, he’s pretty good. We’ll take it.

The B’s Early Summer 2026 Issue, coming 5/20. ✨

Today was a truly classic Berkshire spring day: Blue skies, warm sun, windows down, and something beginning to bloom everywhere you looked. We couldn’t think of a more fitting image to mark the moment than “Big Blooms: Catherine, 2024” by Chatham photographer Paul Lange, featured in The B’s Spring 2026 issue.

Here’s to longer days, muddy boots, garden plans, fresh flowers on the table, and the return of color across the hills.

Happy spring, friends. 🌿
