This weekend! Who’s going!? 🙌🏻🙌🏻

🚨 THE WAIT IS OVER! 🚨

Setup is officially underway and the excitement is building for the 2026 GLTLA Futurity!

The pens are going up, the grounds are coming together, and in less than 24 hours we’ll begin welcoming cattle from across the region as unloading starts tomorrow at 10:00 AM at the Kent County Fairgrounds.

We can’t wait to see everyone, reconnect with friends, meet new exhibitors, and enjoy an incredible weekend celebrating the Texas Longhorn breed.

I know rejection well, by now we r pals, but still we push onward. I’m bringing you some blips in the road because while I love to celebrate wins it’s not all that goes on behind closed doors. Follow me and our podcast for highlight reels but also acknowledging our hardships along the way.

What a journey it has been for us!

We moved into 707 Water St in October of 2024 with a mood board and a vision. Becca & I got to work painting, removing old flooring, old paneling that was covering this fabulous preserved vintage wallpaper, patched holes, laid new flooring, rehabbed antique pieces for displays and a checkout counter… that was phase 1. Create a unique space where we could support farmers wanting to sell their goods direct to our community.

Shortly after we opened our friends who owned a coffee truck moved in with us. It was an amazing collaboration. Who doesn’t love delicious coffee while they shop!? They grew, we grew. We helped each other.

Phase 2 happened about a year in, to spruce up the back room with seating space for our coffee customers and more vendor display space. Lots more paint, lots more carpet removal & floor sanding/ refinishing later.. we had seating.

Phase 3 is now underway, (another mood board and another vision) we want to have a beautiful space to serve you all. This space will be much larger for them so they can start serving sandwiches and expand their menu. More seating with natural light coming with it.

Upstairs is also getting a mini makeover with again paint and sanding floors/ refinishing them. will move her inventory in to make an adorable clothing boutique. It will also include all of our current jewelry, leather works and hat vendors. We’ll be adding thrifted goods up there that fit our collection & vibes.

Guess what we’re even adding signage on the exterior so everyone knows we exist! 🙌🏻😂

We collected just enough in consignment percentages each month to pay bills and rehab the space one phase at a time. The Sauk Prairie community helped build this place, along with a bunch of farmers & makers how cool is that?! You all had a part. SO THANK YOU 🙏 every purchase supports a local farmer, your neighbor who makes barn quilts or pottery, your talented friend that makes jewelry etc. This wouldn’t be possible without all of you and building owners John Brennan & Dan Kelter. 🙌🏻

This poor mama. She’s tryin so hard to keep tabs on this baby. He put us all through a scare, his mom was screaming for him all day yesterday. we searched several times in the woods… none of us could find him and we assumed he found the other side of the fence where mom couldn’t protect him & a pack of coyotes must have taken him away. 😢 I was so upset last night when we finally threw in the towel. We hadn’t heard one little peep or beller all day from him. Checked in the morning again, no calf. That confirmed his fate for us. BUT WAIT JUST KIDDING. He just showed up like nothing ever happened, 36ish hours later to nurse. Ranching is not for the faint of heart it’s an emotional rollercoaster.

This is my third year selling peony flower arrangements fresh from our farm at . Prior to creating Ranch & Root with Becca I had always dreamed of doing this. I really enjoy it, so thank you to everyone who bought my arrangements yesterday & today and I’ll be bringing three more peony arrangements with me tomorrow! 🫶🏻
