I Didn't Think About My Bones Until My Doctor Brought Up a Scan 🦴
Nobody warns you that somewhere in your 40s and 50s, bone density quietly becomes A Thing.
I thought osteoporosis was an "old lady" problem — then my doctor mentioned a bone scan like it was routine, and I realized... I'm the old lady now. 😅
As estrogen drops during perimenopause and menopause, bones can lose density with zero symptoms.
So I did some research about food for bone heath:
🥬 Leafy greens — calcium + vitamin K
🐟 Salmon — vitamin D + omega-3s
🥛Greek Yogurt — calcium and gut health
🌰 Nuts — my new go-to snack
🫘 White beans — sneaky good calcium
Not a magic fix, but it feels good to know that I can share food ideas to support healthy living as we get older.
Simple garlicky white beans — 15 minutes, pairs well with the salmon and greens. You can toss a handful of chopped spinach or kale in near the end if you want the greens cooked right into it.
