A second geomagnetic storm is anticipated to develop around midday today which will likely spark another round of northern lights. Given that the storm is expected to hit during the day, the evening looks to be the best time to see the aurora. However, we will have to contend with high clouds across much of the region, with the thickest clouds over northeast Iowa and far southwest Wisconsin. It remains to be see how these clouds will affect aurora viewing conditions. Finally, it will be colder tonight as temperatures fall into the 20s for lows, so bundle up if heading out!
