Snow and freezing drizzle will continue to develop into the area over the course of this afternoon. 3:20am Sun Dec 28: Moderate to heavy snow spreads from west to east today, lasting through tonight and into early Monday morning.

Highest amounts of 5-10 inches are expected north of Interstate 90, with there being a low chance (10-20%) that some locales could near a foot in west-central Wisconsin.

Strong northwest winds increase this afternoon, resulting in blowing snow areawide and blizzard conditions likely west of the Mississippi River this evening into the morning on Monday.

Finally, the rapidly falling temperatures this afternoon, combined with the warm and wet roads, could result in untreated roadways developing icy spots.

Bottom line, those with travel plans during this time should look for ways to avoid the storm.
