Big news here today at Electric Zee!

At 1 PM this Sunday afternoon, I'll be attempting to go live on my YouTube channel.

I'll post a link a little later on when I'm at my computer.

But we have a lot of catching up to do on the air, and it would mean the world to me if you would listen.

For many years, WIRY 1340, the beloved North Country AM radio station would broadcast "Letters to Santa" so all the boys and girls could hear Santa read their letters via his very short wave radio.

Back in April, WIRY signed off for good, meaning that very short wave radio connection was no longer active at the North Poll.

Because I (Amanda Dagley) was once the radio operator for that very short wave radio, I decided to see if I could make contact with the Jolly Old Elf and what do you know, it worked!

I got to thinkin' the other day (when I am not talking a lot, I'm thinking a lot) about how now that WIRY is closed, how will Santa communicate via his very short wave radio to the children of the No Co (and beyond!)

So, I did what my Ma taught me to do way back when I was a kid: I wrote a letter, burned it in the cook stove, and hoped the wind would carry my message to Ol' Saint Nick and he'd reply.

Wouldn't you know, he did! Of course he did, because he's Santa Claus!

Just a word of caution: I'm a grown-up and that's why I chose to send my letter to Santa through smoke. I'll soon have a safer way for the little ones to get me their letters.

As with most things these days, it does cost money to organize this kind of thing. I reached out to my pals at New-Plattsburgh Sourdough Co to see if we could work together to bring this hometown tradition back to life and they agreed to be our lead sponsor!

After a year and a half, I can finally say that the first episode of "Tales from the Zeeborhood" is finally live on my website!

I extend all my gratitude and respect for Teddy Chan of China Cafe for not only recording this with me in the summer of 2024, but for being so patient with me in the time it took to bring this episode finally to life.

It's a really great interview/conversation and I am very proud.
