‘BROUGHT ME BACK TO LIFE’: Senior premiering cancer documentary
by Aleksandra Sidorova

"When Cole Kachejian was diagnosed with leukemia in late 2021, he had no guarantee he would make it to where he is today.

The graduating senior is showing the Plattsburgh community his struggle with cancer at the screening of his film, “Paused: A Cancer Documentary,” at 5 p.m. tomorrow, April 27, in Yokum 200. The event will also raise money for charity and accept food donations for the Cardinal Cupboard."

4 parking lots closing today for upgrades
By Aleksandra Sidorova

"On-campus parking may become harder to find as one of the off-campus student parking lots closes tonight, April 19, for improvements.

Lot 27 near Banks Hall is one of the four lots closing for maintenance and updates. Two of the parking lots — Lot 9 outside of Kehoe Administration Building and Lot 28 near Champlain Valley Hall — serve faculty and staff. The last affected parking lot is Lot 10, which allows for 15-minute parking outside of Kehoe."

College puts kaleidoscope to total eclipse
by Aleksandra Sisorova

"The topic of the total solar eclipse took a turn for the scientific, mythological and creative in the Totality Conference on SUNY Plattsburgh’s last Friday before its online and physical countdowns reached zero.

Concurrent discussion sessions and lectures explored the topic of eclipses through personal experiences, psychology, history, religion, literature, social justice and comedy. The conference also featured a keynote speaker and a sculpture pour."

How to prepare for eclipse day
By Brionne Thompson

"The eclipse is a huge deal and we are looking at it from a vantage point.

SUNY Plattsburgh’s web page dedicated to this year’s total solar eclipse describes it as when the moon shadows across North America, momentarily blocking the sun. The college community has a great view of it, but it wouldn’t be as fun without making sure students, faculty and staff are kept safe — they need to have the correct type of eyewear to make sure they don’t damage their vision. ‘No complaint’: 8 volunteer for transformative spring break
by Aleksandra Sidorova

"Eight SUNY Plattsburgh students found community and purpose while away on a spring break unlike any they’ve had before.

Annabella Arriola and Jenna Garcia of Theta Phi Alpha, Rohan Nasare and Robert Snekser of Delta Sigma Phi, Jayden Neptune of Theta Gamma, Kristyn Penera and Stella Saarinen of Theta Alpha Lambda and Sophia Sabatini of Alpha Epsilon Phi stayed and worked at the Shack Neighborhood, a community center in Morgantown, West Virginia. A one-way trip, including stops, took them about 12 hours."

Perspective: Shooting club makes mark in Boston contest

Plattsburgh takes icy swim in Hawkins Pond
by Aleksandra Sidorova

“How do you feel?” an onlooker asked.
“Like sh*t,” the student replied, shirtless and soaking wet.
At least 50 people plunged into Hawkins Pond Saturday, Feb. 10, including University Police officers, professors, Greek life members, the women’s soccer team, friend groups and solo students.
