The once "ferral" steer, loose in the woods for 4 months. He has come a long way and loves me the most out of the herd. I snuggle him while he's sleeping, walk right up to him and throw a halter on after maybe a year. I never fully halter trained him, he just trusts me. No treats or coaxing. 💙

*Warning* Some pictures are a little gory & gross!

We had our first experience with bumblefoot! My poor girl, Eleanor, had a pretty severe case that I noticed right before going out of town for over a week. It progressed while we were away and I couldn't really do anything about it until i got back. I am so grateful that my wonderful neighbor/sitter/friend, Macey, recommended a woman up the street to help. She has many years of experience with chickens and ducks and I'm so lucky to have her right up the road!! She was amazing and knew exactly what to do. She saved Eleanor's life and saved me from a large vet bill. I haven't been able to work for some time so this is appreciated greatly. I love my farm friends and community and so glad to get to live where we live❤️🐔

Animals always help me when things feel too much, overwhelming, frustrating or like it's one of the worst days. They are my comfort place. No one else can help emotionally the way they do. They listen and don't need to say anything to express their love. They snuggle, hug, rub on me, try to play, and just look at me in a way that tells me they care and are there. Always. They are dependable and my therapy. I don't know what I would do without them in these trying times. 💙💛

Eleanor is trying to tell me something this morning. She actually has a lot to say. She sat on my lap and just hung out for 5 minutes before I took this video. I think she likes me 😊

So the question is: Is Black Quill a rooster or hen?? What are everyone's thoughts?

I'm still wishing for a hen but Black Quill and BBQ (rooster) have been challenging each other 😫

Also, there is never any personal space when you own donkeys!!! 😆
