I get a call from asking what was I up to while I was out with friends Saturday night. I said playing pool at and try to do one last photo shoot before the night ended if I could. She told me she was on her way to a Gala. 20 minutes later, this happened.

ICE Protest Pt. 1

Had a great time with some wonderful people standing up for themselves and others like them the other day at an ICE protest. Due to recent developments, a lot of people are being taken from their loved ones with extreme prejudice and sent God knows where. America is was built on open borders.

“Ashlee Blhue” Ashlee Blhue

This was my second time doing an interior shoot ever and I had such a wonderful time doing this with a wonderful subject for their birthday! We tried out some new equipment I recently got and couldn’t be happier with the results. Hope to do more interior shoots in the year to come!

Outside shoots in the winter time is a hurdle for the photographer and the subject. But I think it’s worth it in the end result.

Doing a series of self portraits because I’m bored. Seriously, I got off work today and decided to do this. Anyway, first up is “Drift.”

I wanted to see how I could pull this off without a studio or a pool. So how did I do it? Trash bags and a bath tub. Put my camera on a timer, connected it and the lights to my phone, and voila. Didn’t even need to edit much. Just submerge in my tub and snap the picture. Easy peasy. Maybe I’ll show my set up later.

Day 1

Yesterday was pretty peaceful. People were chilling on the beach like it was another day. Couldn’t tell at all that a hurricane was high the way.

Secured a few cameras from my best friend yesterday.

First up is the Polaroid Land Camera 800. This was manufactured from 1957-1962. I tested it and it works great. Problem is that they don’t make film for it anymore and it might be hard trying to find some that would even give a great end result. I’m optimistic nonetheless.

Next up is the Minolta XG1. This is in great condition and came with quite a bit of extras, including lenses and film. Nothing seems wrong with it. I need to buy batteries to test it out. Funny thing is that I own two other Minolta cameras (XG2 and Sportmatic). Both with I hope to restore someday.

“Marie”

A dear friend of mine came to me about this concept some time ago and it was definitely a new one for me. When I do shoots with people, they ask me how should the pose, and I tell them “show me you” and we’ll go from there. I didn’t need to with Marie. Marie is Marie at all times. I can speak on this experience forever, but I’ll let her speak on her own behalf.

Marie:

My whole identity ever since I could remember was “The girl with a big chest”. I am so much more than that. My decision was based upon who I felt as a person. I’ve never felt so comfortable in my own skin. I am Marie, the person who is know for their love of others and the art of dance. I literally and mentally took a load of my shoulders. Anyone who is anyone deserves to love their body and have gender affirming care. The decision to remove my ni***es was for both health and mental reasons. A sweet friend once told me, “ You will always will be beautiful in every stage of your life.” It’s true for me just as it should be for you. Love yourself now and tomorrow and the next day. I learned to love my chest even when I was a size F and now I love myself as a size C with no nips! I am Marie also know as Shimmer (my performer name). I am a mom, a drag and burlesque artist and a supporting friend. I will continue to love myself in every stage of my life as you should too!
