We are proud to close out our May Client Spotlight with Hallie Jade and her song Wild in Me—a truly beautiful and heartfelt tribute to her late grandfather.

This song captures the depth of grief while also celebrating the love and legacy he left behind. Through touching lyrics like “I’m glad you can see me for all that I am… whenever I find a field open and blue, I’ll close my eyes and sit there with you,” Hallie expresses both loss and gratitude in a way that feels deeply personal and universally relatable.

The western-inspired production, with mandolin and harmonica, brings the song to life—evoking images of open fields, wild horses, and the places we go to feel close to the ones we’ve lost.

Wild in Me is a reminder that even in loss, there is something lasting—something carried forward. As Hallie sings, “thank you for leaving some wild in me.”

Hallie Jade is an incredible artist, writer, mother, and friend. We are so grateful to have highlighted her music this month, and we will continue to be lifelong supporters of her work.

Been thinking a lot about this one lately.

When Hallie Jade came through the studio, there wasn’t a big moment where everything “clicked.” It was quieter than that. Songs unfolding slowly. Conversations in between takes. Little decisions that ended up meaning everything.

She talks in this interview about writing every day—not because it’s disciplined, but because she doesn’t like letting ideas slip past her. That kind of instinct is hard to teach, but you can hear it all over this record.

There’s a line she walks really well—between where she came from and where she is now. You feel it in the stories about home, about loss, about building something steady without losing that wild part of yourself.

It makes sense she was shaped by writers like John Prine and Brandi Carlile. Same kind of honesty. Same kind of weight without overcomplicating it.

If you missed this the first time around, it’s worth sitting with.

Read the interview and spend some time with her new EP.

We’re continuing our May Client Spotlight with Hallie Jade and her upbeat, feel-good track "Mercedes" - Check out what she had to say about it!

"Mercedes" is such a bop. We can't get it out of our heads. Upbeat songs can sometimes be a challenge for songwriters, especially in the "folk" genre. How did you come up with this tune?

"It's truly an anomaly and I worry to this day that I may never write a "bop" again, haha. I want to say that I was in just the right energetic state for that song to come to life, but honestly that song woke me up out of a dream one night at 2am. I was so groggy, but I couldn't escape that chorus in my head, so I got out of bed and finished the chorus. The next morning after a couple cups of coffee and residual hype from that chorus, the verses and pre-choruses came together. If I could recreate that scenario to write something like it, I would, but unfortunately it simply came down to "grabbing" the inspiration when it hit. All I can hope for is that it hits again... and maybe at a more reasonable hour of day." - Hallie Jade

Hallie Jade continues to showcase her versatility as a songwriter, moving seamlessly from vulnerable storytelling to bright, carefree moments like this one.

Here are 5 secrets to writing a strong song:

Maximize your studio session with 5 tips on vocal production and recording for a standout song.

This is the part of the process people don’t always see.

A vocal can be technically right and still not feel like anything. That’s where this kind of work comes in—shaping phrasing, pushing timing, and finding the balance between something clean and something with a little bite.

Here’s Danielle Todd working with Julia Davis, chasing a take that has both control and attitude. Not overthinking it—just following the energy until it clicks.

These are the moments that make a record.

Not every moment in the studio is about getting it right.

Sometimes it’s about being completely off and laughing about it anyway.

Grady James and Julia Davis are a perfect example of what makes a great creative partnership work—genuine friendship, trust, and the ability to not take things too seriously when it matters most.

Sunglasses on, music playing, clapping along… and somehow not hitting the beat at all. But that’s exactly the energy that makes the room feel good—and when the room feels good, the music usually follows.

That kind of comfort can’t be forced. It’s built over time, and it shows up in every part of the process.

May Client Spotlight: Hallie Jade

We’re continuing our May Client Spotlight with Hallie Jade and her song Sticks and Glue—a beautifully written, deeply personal love story.

This track explores the vulnerability of wanting a future with someone who may be afraid to fully commit. It’s honest, sweet, and quietly powerful, capturing the courage it takes to express what you truly want out of love and life.

Lyrics like “I want to do bad things on the beach… I want to build our lives with sticks and glue, I want to spend my life with you” reflect both the playful and deeply sincere nature of the song.

With production centered around intimate vocals and subtle percussion, every word carries weight. Hallie Jade proves herself to be a true songwriter—drawing comparisons to artists like Brandi Carlile, John Prine, and Jewel.

We’re proud to feature her work this month—stay tuned for more.
