🎙️ Avad: The Seeds of Leadership - Episode 4 is live!

In this episode, I sit down with Jennie Koenig and Emily Caulkins, co-founders of Pleasantville Youth Initiative, a small-town nonprofit helping kids in a big way.

We talk about showing up without overcomplicating it, listening before leading, and building something meaningful without waiting for it to be easy. We also talk about their podcast, “Ope, There It Is” and the beauty of ordinary people doing quiet, lasting work.

It's one of the most heartfelt and laughter-filled conversations we’ve had so far.

Tonight is the Candlelight Vigil for Donald McCormick. Here are a few things we would like the community to keep in mind:
🦮The Event Center will be open from 5pm-7pm for any teens or community members that would like to spend time in comfort together. Grief counselors, pastors, prayer ministers, and crisis canines will be present if needed. Tables are set up for writing, coloring, or just sitting to talk. We encourage any community members to take advantage of this service!
🕯The Candlelight Vigil will take place at 7:00pm outside on the East Side of the school (picture in post).
PLEASE NOTE:
🚧State street will be closed from Jones St to the teachers parking lot this evening approximately 6:30-8:30.
The cafeteria door entry on the north side of the school is closed for construction. If you park in the school parking lots, you will need to walk around the building to the East side.
⭐️Keep in mind: We have no idea how many people to expect. Please be considerate of others and patient with our team as we attempt to navigate the ins and outs of this event.
🙏During and following the Candlelight Vigil, prayer ministers will be available for anyone who would like prayer.

With heavy hearts we invite those who loved our dear friend Donald McCormick to a candlelight vigil on Tuesday, August 5th in the PHS event Center. We will gather together at 7pm in our grief over the loss of a young man who was a friend in the purest sense of the word.
From 5pm-7pm the room will be open for any who would like comfort from grief counselors, pastors, and trusted adults. Therapy dogs will also be present to bring extra love.

If you have questions please contact us at [email protected]

More resources and ways to connect will be shared soon. Please join us in prayer for Donald’s family and friends.

Meals today! (8-1-25) 11:30-12:30 is pickup (unless we run out). Some days we run out early, but other days we do not. Please check our page if you are wondering if we are out. As soon as we are out, we will update this post to let everyone know. If it isn't updated, then we still have some left!
🙂 It is also hard for us to answer messages between 10:30-12:30 because we are prepping and distributing. So if you are unsure, it is best to just stop over. See you then!
