From taxes to treats, meet Kristi Wahlman, owner and baking extraordinaire behind The Beancounter's Sweets.
Growing up, Kristi recalls plenty of baking experiences with her family: from sleepovers and breadmaking lessons at her aunt’s home to baking pies and cookies with her siblings and mom (often being shooed away before eating all the dough🤪). These fond memories turned into a lifelong passion, inspiring Kristi to put her CPA career on hold to devote her time to baking.
In the spring of 2020, Kristi introduced “Quarantine Cakes,” a little something that made the pandemic feel slightly more bearable. After people began to request the cakes left and right, the rest was history.
Celebratory items like cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and macarons are currently in high demand. For Valentine’s Day, red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese buttercream, macarons (raspberry Meyer lemon and red velvet) variety packs, decorated sugar cookie sets, DIY cookie kits, Paint-Your-Own cookies, and Valentine cookie cards are featured on the menu. Kristi will also be offering cupcakes and cookie kits for the Super Bowl, which falls on the same weekend as Valentine’s Day this year. To order, visit https://the-beancounters-sweets.site/home. Orders will be taken until Saturday!
Kristi’s vision is to eventually expand beyond her current capacity and limitations by renting a commercial kitchen and getting her commercial food license. But when asked about her long-term vision and dream for The Beancounter’s Sweets, she stated:
“In a perfect world, I’d open a little French café where people would gather for socializing, coffee, amazing pastries, and rotating deserts!”
We will be cheering you on from the sidelines, Kristi! Thanks for sharing your passion with us!
