If there’s anyone who wants to be a part of a zoom call for our LAST hurrah at appealing the FDEP permit approval, please let us know ASAP… we are on a tight deadline, with 9/30 being the date to submit.

We have one call with our attorney scheduled for later today- and if you’re able to pitch in to add your name/HoA to the list of those opposed to the project being approved, send an email to [email protected] -

Here’s the detailed breakdown/update:
Hi Neighbors & Friends,

We have been granted an initial extension to file our appeal with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) against the proposed 10-story building planned seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line. This extension only goes until September 30, 2025—meaning we must act fast.

To move forward, we need both funding commitments and names listed on the appeal.

⏰ Urgent Timeline

Sept 26: Deadline for your commitment letter (name, address, email, phone). Checks can follow later, but we must have written confirmation by this date to include you on the appeal.
Sept 30: Final date to file the appeal with FDEP.

Financial Support Levels (if you are a neighbor on Briny):

Individual Residents:

Suggested $1,000 (covers ~2 hours of attorney time or 1/10th of a professional witness).
$500 (would cover about ~1 hour).

Single Property Owners: Up to $5,000.

HOAs/Condo Communities (Christopher House, Salato, Ocean Pearl, Ocean 6, etc.): $10,000–$15,000, based on community size/ability.

Goal: Secure a minimum of $50,000 in commitment from affected properties within 500-1000 feet of the development property.

👉🏼👉🏼Currently we are at a $25k commitment- so we need more involved- EVERYTHING helps!

Checks payable to:
Abrams Law Group, P.A.
Memo line: “Save Briny”
Wire transfer details available upon request.
(Address to send check will be sent via email)

📝 What to Send Us Now:

Please email the following for each person who wishes to be listed on the appeal:

Name:
Address:
Phone:
Email:

I’ll compile and forward to the attorney, who will then send the Letter of Engagement for your signature (a fancy way of officially adding you).

🌊 Broader Support

The Save Briny website will soon allow contributions from those outside our neighborhood who can’t/choose not to be listed but still want to help build the legal fund in support of protecting our coastline from overdevelopment. Any remaining funds after the appeal will be donated to a local ocean/coastal conservation nonprofit.

💵💰💵💰 Link coming soon!

This is our critical window. The more neighbors and HOAs we unite before Sept 30, the stronger our case will be. Please reply and share if you can contribute or help connect with others. 🫶🏼

Quick question for local business owners in Pompano:

Were you aware of an opportunity to partner with the city on “revamping” or leasing the existing Pompano Beach Snack Shack (the one that used to serve coffee on the beach)?

Please share your thoughts and experiences.

Also- quick question for residents:

Were you aware of any plans from the city to ask or look for potential partners/tenants?

Any signs displayed on the building itself? Anything?

Please share your thoughts and experiences.

Beverly Perkins- we are truly offended by what you, your residents (whom had valid concerns and showed up multiple times at public meeting to share their concerns and opinions) had to endure. Our community as a whole, and the audience in attendance at the meeting.

Guys- this was BAD. It was cringe worthy to just sit there in person and want to be able to come to the defense of our neighbors being verbally attacked, shamed, and in the case of Ms. Perkins- directly attacked, repeatedly.

This is NOT OK.

Let’s be better & do better. A LOT of working together means EMPATHY has to exist- and Mr. Moss failed miserably at representing this city and his district by being so hateful that evening.

Enough said. Go watch the replay and share your own opinion!

We attended this.

In a short few words… it was terribly embarrassing to watch and witness such a complete lack of compassion from Commissioner Moss to his fellow commissioners AS WELL as the citizens he verbally attacked- plus ALL of us who endured sitting through his rampage.

In one word: UNACCEPTABLE.
