After the sharks have been finned and then and dried, it is nearly impossible without dna testing to identify the species of shark, creating a loophole in the exportation of protected species.

Here in Mexico the inability to identify the difference between endangered species and the sharks that are “deemed“ sustainable” has been one of the biggest setbacks in protecting these animals.

Before the lockdown i spent the last couple months meeting with local fishermen and working with different scientists to work on a few new ecotourism locations in Baja.

When all this lockdown is over I’m very excited to be showing people the most beautiful places in Baja whilst working with these fishermen to create some positive change.
