While I was there, I couldn't resist supporting some fellow local creators. I picked up The Final Crusade by Peyton Quinn and the cutest pair of real ladybug earrings by Amber Artistry🐞. If you're stopping in for a bundle, take a lap around the shop first, there's so much local talent under one roof worth discovering.

So here's something that's been on my mind lately. AI companies are buying up used books right now, by the pallet, and it's not to read them. Booksellers have started noticing weird orders, hundreds of books at once, no theme to any of it, nobody haggling on price. Turns out it's for training AI. The spines get cut off, the pages get scanned, and then the actual book, the one that survived on somebody's shelf for thirty, forty years, that got dog eared and reread and handed down, gets shredded. Destroyed forever. A federal court already said this is legal. It's just data now. Nothing else.
We're doing the opposite of that, on purpose.
Every book we sell stays a book. We wrap it in kraft paper, attach a handwritten clue tag, tuck in a quill and some little pieces of ephemera, and it goes home in someone's actual hands. To be read. Loved. Maybe passed along to somebody else someday. No spine gets cut here. The only mystery is what's inside, not whether you'll get to keep it.
Honestly, there's something a little old fashioned about what we do, and I like that. A book that a real person picked out, wrapped by hand, thinking of the person who'd unwrap it, that's just not something you can automate. It only works because it's small and slow and human the whole way through.
Somewhere out there right now, a machine is scanning a page for the last time before the book it came from gets destroyed. And somewhere else, someone's untying a piece of twine, finding out what book they've actually been holding this whole time. Both things are happening at once. Every book has a life. We're just trying to keep it going.

Okay, July, you were a good one. πŸ’›
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table this month! Every unwrapped bundle, every "wait, I don't get to know what's inside?!" made all the hot days and book chaos worth it. That moment when someone opens their mystery book is honestly my favorite part of this whole job.
I'm taking a week off to rest and restock, so things might be a little quiet here, but we'll still be at the Little Italy Endicott Farmers Market this week, weather permitting! After that, August is coming in strong with a full lineup of events. Can't wait.
Thank you for reading blind with me. πŸ•―οΈπŸ“–

Today the whole corner is buzzing! The Greene Arts and Crafts Festival is in full swing, and we're right in the middle of it. Take a look at the video: our booth, wrapped and ready with today's mystery bundles, and the row of fellow makers and vendors lining the street beside us. There's something so good about a festival day, everyone's tables full, everyone's story a little different.
Ours is simple: every book is wrapped with a handwritten clue tag, bookish extras, and a total mystery until you unwrap it. No judging a cover you can't even see, just a genre, a vibe, and a little trust in fate.
We've got bundles for adults, kids, and the whole family today, plus bookmarks and a few festival-only extras. Come wander the corner, see what everyone's brought, and let a book pick you for once.
See you today! πŸ“–βœ¨

There's something about wandering a farmers market at golden hour..the smell of fresh bread, string lights just starting to flicker on, neighbors catching up over lemonade. Tonight, add us to that mix.
We'll be set up at the Little Italy Farmers Market with a table full of mystery, literally. Every book in our bundles is wrapped up tight, its title hidden until you're home, curled up, ready to meet it. No cover judging allowed. Just a little fate, a little fiction, and the thrill of not knowing what's waiting for you until you untie the twine.
Whether you're a hardcover romantic, shopping for a kid who devours mysteries, or just looking for a bookmark pretty enough to keep forever, we've got something for you.
Come wander, come browse, come take a chance on a stranger of a story. We'll be there with the rest of this incredible lineup of local vendors, and we'd love to see your face in the crowd tonight. πŸŒ™πŸ“šβœ¨
