I’ve been saying this for YEARS, and now that the vintage Ralph Lauren Christmas look is everywhere, I thought I’d explain why this style looks the way it does.

The whole idea is that Christmas was added to what was already in the home. People didn’t completely redecorate their house for the holidays …. they used what they had and made it feel like Christmas.

That’s where the rocking horses, little rocking chairs, teddy bears, old books, baskets, plaid blankets, brass candlesticks and vintage toys come in. Those things weren’t necessarily “Christmas decor.” They were things that already lived in the home. Add some greenery, a beautiful tartan ribbon or a little Christmas touch, and suddenly they became part of the holiday decor.

And THAT is what makes this look so good. It feels collected, nostalgic and lived in, not like you went out and bought an entire matching Christmas collection.

So before you run out and buy a rocking horse because Ralph Lauren Christmas is trending 😂… SHOP YOUR HOUSE!

Pull out those old pieces you love and figure out how to Christmas them up.
