Generally, I’m pretty terrible at capturing the behind-the-scenes stuff when I’m working (especially when I’m traveling). When I went to Kansas City earlier this year my sister asked for some pictures of the trip so far and I realized I hadn’t taken any yet. 😄 So I’ve been trying to be more intentional about documenting what I’m working on.

In July and early August, I traveled all across Montana (~2,500 miles in total) filming at 11 different locations. As you’ll see, the first stop was in Bozeman. Maybe you’ll find it valuable (or at least interesting). If you do, let me know what you think.

Had a great time on Monday working with local hs/college students as part of the FPCC Summer STEM program. I was able to talk about my business, how I got into film, and how I started flying drones.

I shared with them how to become a certified “remote pilot,” what the test was like, and of course the mechanics of how to fly a drone. FPCC was able to purchase a couple of drones that the students were able to test out and fly, which was fun.

I hope the students had a good time getting some hands on experience.

Last Week, 22 students from the area Fort Peck schools traveled to the Lawrence/Kansas City area to partake in the Bright Path Student Experience. The events of the week included:

• Jim Thorpe Day @ Arrowhead Stadium
• Campus Visits to both Kansas University & Haskell Indian Nations University
• KU Pow Wow & Indigenous Cultures Festival

Shoutout to Myltin Bighorn and all of his connections down in the Lawrence/KC area for making this opportunity possible for the kids of Fort Peck!

I had a great time tagging along capturing the experience. This is just a short highlight video—a longer, more detailed video will be coming soon! Be on the lookout for that!

Throwback to late last summer when I traveled to Sioux Falls, SD to film a project for Enterprise Community Partners, a housing nonprofit that works a lot in Indian Country. On this particular project I assisted a media company out of New York Really Useful Media to film a coalition meeting that was taking place. We also had a South Dakota local, Paul from Ebsen House Productions, working audio for us.

My job was to conduct all of the interviews we needed to gather on day 1, which ended up being around 12-13 in total and took about 10 hours 🥵(my introverted self needed about a week to recover from this lol).

We turned a small hotel room into a suitable interview space (you can see the before and after pictures below).

On day 2 I captured a bit of b-roll at a conference that was being held.

Once I handed over my video files and made it back home I kinda forgot about the project. It wasn’t until like two weeks ago that I randomly wondered if the final video had been shared, sure enough it had been (months ago haha) so I thought I’d share.

Back at it with Shades of Thorpe. Last week, Myltin was able to share his journey with the Native American Studies class at Wolf Point High School. I followed him around for the day capturing content.

A few weeks ago, Myltin and I spent an afternoon gathering footage for his brand Shades of Thorpe, which focuses Athletics, Education, and Leadership.

Myltin recently completed the Bright Path 75 Hard workout challenge. We produced content for all of his social channels (YouTube, TikTok, IG), which included a recap video of the challenge, as well as filming his 75th day of the challenge. If you haven’t heard of the challenge, let Myltin give you an overview.

One of the things I want to highlight here is how we spent a few hours gathering footage, but we were able to repurpose all of the content for each of his socials. That’s really the way forward if you’re trying to grow an audience, you have to produce content that’s catered to each platform. All it takes is a little foresight on how to tackle it.
