Twenty-five years.

I was 14. Freshman year. Watched it happen on a TV they wheeled into the classroom. Four years later, I enlisted.

2,977 people didn't come home that day. First responders ran into buildings they knew were coming down. And for a lot of us who were kids watching it unfold, it quietly became the reason we raised our right hand.

I think about that a lot on days like today. Not the politics. Just the weight of it.

Never forget.

Port Allen came out for Live on the Levee last night at the Old Ferry Landing. The party keeps going this weekend with the Oldies But Goodies Fest and BBQ Cook-Off at the WBR Conference Center on North Westport Drive. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12–13.

West Baton Rouge Parish has received the same adverse finding on its annual audit for 30 consecutive years.
