It’s that time of year again! Tarpon are already showing up - and being caught - off South Padre Island. The Silver Kings will be making their way up the coast over the next few weeks. By month’s end, the waters off the Texas Coast from SPI to Sabine should have plenty of tarpon.

For the first time in a long time, anglers along parts of the Texas Coast are actually dealing with rain runoff and influx of freshwater. Heavy rains have hit the entire coast leading to up to Memorial Day Weekend and more is expected. While fishermen would usually groan about such a situation, most are welcoming the much needed rain and hoping the upcoming El Niño may finally end the years-long drought

Overcast conditions are predicted all weekend, but the recent late fronts haven’t slowed fishing along the Texas Coast one bit. Both reds and specks have been plenty active, with soft-plastic jerkbaits being the go-to for most anglers.

Rainy start to the month of May along much of the Texas Coast. However, the trout fishing has been fantastic!

If you want to fish the Texas Coast over Easter Weekend, you’d better get it done early! Forecast shows for a strong front and heavy rain to begin making its way down the coastal curve beginning late Saturday. The foul weather is expected to stick around through the early part of next week. As mild as this winter was, so far the spring pattern seems to be warm and windy during the week, followed by a front over the weekend.

Sunny skies and sunset redfish have been the theme along the Texas Coast this week. However, looks like a small front will push through this weekend. Although it will only be a slight cool down, anglers can expect north winds and changing barometric pressure on Saturday. By Sunday, things should be back to normal with springtime fishing for reds and specks

Looking more and more like winter is behind us on the Texas Coast. Another fairly warm weekend is on tap to close out February. Despite the recent windy conditions, anglers up and down the coast have been reporting good catches of both reds and specks

Warm winter weekend on tap along the Texas Coast. Quite a change from the freezing conditions at the end of January. The warm, sunny winter weather makes it a perfect time to hit the surf with a little FishBites and catch some pompano. Even if it is the Super Bowl, this weekend is going to be too nice to not spend some time on the water!

Even though it’s been a warmer than normal winter, January has once again seen an increase in the number of big trout being caught along the Texas Coast. Hopefully that trend continues!

Looks like a chilly weekend of fishing along the Texas Coast. As January starts gaining traction, a cold snap - or at least cooler weather - may be exactly what is needed to get the fish to start behaving how they’re supposed this time of year!
