Living full-time in our RV, Hero's Journey, has been an incredible adventure, and we've learned how to keep our costs low! Here are our top 5 money-saving tips:

1. Camp Smart: We frequently use RV Overnights, HipCamp, Dyrt, and Harvest Host for budget-friendly stays.

2. Seek Free Parking: Dispersed camping is a great option for us, and with our generator, full bathroom, and kitchen, we're fully equipped.

3. Cook at Home: We make most of our meals, just like we did before hitting the road, which saves a lot.

4. Truck Stop Benefits: On travel days, we rest at truck stops and take advantage of their waste dump and water fill services every 5 days.

5. Solar Power: Our 100W solar panel and portable generator help us stay off-grid without relying on noisy generators.

We prefer boondocking or affordable state parks over RV resorts, keeping our travels simple and cost-effective.

We have had an incredible time traveling! We made some costly mistakes and some funny ones. We survived homelessness and theft. We saw things, ate things, and experienced things we never imagined. We literally fulfilled our dream! The best part is yet to come. We know our hearts belong to the open road. Now it's time for us to take those mistakes and turn them into lessons so we can properly prepare for our next nomadic journey. We shall meet again living and rolling on four wheels (hmm maybe more , who knows). Please be safe Black and Brown people. Take up space! Enjoy the outdoors and every highway on your journey.✌🏿🫶🏿

Tulsa showed us a cute little St. Patrick’s Day weekend. We hit downtown for a block party hosted by a local bar where we tried Irish food for the first time! **Spoiler alert: IT BANGS!!! We ran into the Tulsa Humane Society, so Miles got to stop by and say HI! And we ran into some very creative local vendors selling art that called to us.

Sunday brunch was Blunts and Brunch at Dope space, chill vibe, free green, and delicious food and drinks.

We have said goodbye to Myrtle Beach and we on to the next one. On our way out we made our to the beach for one last time and treated ourselves to some vegan cheesecake and fancy matcha lattes from .juicebar. Our time in MB gave us the space we needed to figure out our plan and move forward. I hope that Tulsa brings us the same comfort.

Hippie fashion staple # 2:
Denim jackets with all the patches! What better way to wear your politics and lifestyle on your sleeve than to literally stitch it onto your sleeve! We both enjoy collecting things, but vanlife means we have to be really intentional about how we use our space. So we collect patches and create wearable art!

When you sit down somewhere for long enough, you start to accumulate STUFF! Being in the AirBnB has been calming and settling after a chaotic summer. But it also gave us space to put a bunch of things we didn’t really need. We’ll be out of here in a week which means it’s time to downsize again! The first pic is all the things we gave away. The second pic is all the things we have left. It feels really good to be this light and portable, to be able to go anywhere anytime. Nomadic life is truly within us and we are on our way back on the road!!

Key aesthetic choices for hippies # 1: stacked beaded, shell, and leather bracelets!

On every road trip we find cute little shops and flea markets with all sorts of unique and beautiful things. We both like to have little collections, but vanlife means space is limited. So now we only collect things that we can wear like bracelets and patches!

So we are thinking about building out an extended cargo van. Today we saw a 16 passenger van! It's a low roof but plenty more space and better gas mileage than a RV. For what it's worth we are both 5'5" so the bend isn't terrible.
