Local Author Feature: Emilia Rosa - Emilia Rosa writes historical fiction that mixes romance, mystery, and vivid settings inspired by Brazil’s history and culture. She was born in the United States and grew up in Rio de Janeiro, an experience that strongly shapes her stories.

Her first series, Finding Cristina, takes readers to early 1920s Rio and explores themes of identity, love, and resilience in a rich historical setting. The trilogy follows Cristina as she faces personal loss, social challenges, and new starts in different countries.

Before she became a novelist, Rosa expressed her creativity through poetry. She worked in international trade shows in a multilingual capacity and as a fashion model in Brazil, Italy, and the US. She turned to writing to blend poetic imagery with strong storytelling, adding emotion and atmosphere to each scene.

Rosa has loved reading since she was young, learning several languages and later discovering a love for classic mysteries, especially detective stories from the Golden Age. These interests influence her complex plots and focus on characters.

Restored and Reimagined: Lonz Estate Celebrates 100 Years - In 1906, winemaker August Schmidt built what would eventually become known as the Lonz Mansion, named for George and Fannie Lonz who purchased the property 20 years later.
