10 years ago I came to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time.
And although the Grand Prix weekend was my actual first event at IMS, the 100th running of the worlds greatest race and the 2 weeks in-between the two races is what solidified my love for this place. It has only grown and become louder in the back of my head since 2016.
By the 2018 running of the race I officially lived in Speedway, IN. I moved here because the allure of the Speedway was just that strong. I moved here then, and eight years later I haven’t left.
This place and this race is something unlike anything else in racing, sport, and maybe even life.
I don’t like using hyperbole, but the Indianapolis Motor Speedway may actually may be magic.
People here treat each other warmly, and they’re excited to share this experience with each other. And they treat the event with respect. A quality lacking greatly in today’s society.
My life is greater in every measurable metric today thanks to me being lured away from literally everything and everywhere else in my life by this 117 year old church. Im continually taken back by the fact that I live here. I love that I can say I’ve announced here. And I love the Indianapolis Motor Speedway so much.
God Bless America
God Bless the men and women of the United States military
And may God above bless the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500 mile race.
Now, for the 110th time, and my 8th in 10 years…. Stay tuned for the greatest spectacle in racing.
