This week's Press is rolling out to newsstands later this afternoon and will land in subscriber's mailboxes tomorrow ahead of the New Year's holiday.

On the cover: With little snow on the ground, the Grinch and Santa break out their bikes. Snow that had mostly melted by last week didn’t produce a very white Christmas, but mild holiday weather gave Laura Strelow (left) and her son Bailey Arndt the opportunity to dress in Grinch and Santa attire and ride their bikes along Port Washington’s Grand Avenue on Christmas Eve to brighten the spirits of those driving by them. Port Washington residents, it looks like the Grinch is making a return tonight and he is bringing snow with him! Unfortunately that means we will have to cancel our blanket permission to park tonight. We ask that everyone attempt to park their vehicles in garages and driveways so that our Street Department can clear our roads efficiently if need be. We will reassess the blanket permission to park again on Monday and hopefully we will be able to extend it again through the New Year!

This week's Press is rolling out to newsstands later this afternoon and evening and landing in subscribers mailboxes tomorrow ahead of the Christmas holiday.

On the cover: Santa hits the trails in Ozaukee County to enjoy an early Christmas gift. In addition to knowing who’s been naughty or nice, Santa (Jim Lagault of Saukville) knew that when Christmas came early to Ozaukee County in the form of enough snow to open snowmobile trails earlier this month, he better jump at the chance to have a little winter fun while it lasted. So he took a brief break from his holiday engagements and joined Casey Frey (left) and Kent Schueller on a trail in the Town of Fredonia recently. Frey and Schueller are members of the Snow Runners Snowmobile Club, whichmaintains trails in the northern end of the county. Those trails have since been closed due to warmer weather. Inside this week's paper. The sheep saga takes a turn. Avid social media followers of the two sheep, apparent escapees from a farm, that have been roaming through Ozaukee County for more than a month haven’t heard much in theway of new sightings lately, but here is a late-breaking report from a verified observer: The pair has broken up. The more dominant black sheep has left his tawny companion, who seems to have settled in a wooded rural area north of Port Washington. The remaining animal is less skittish than its absent friend and paused in its grazing long enough to show off an impressive set of horns and a prodigious wool coat. Though full of burs from life in the wild, the thick wool seems to have made the sheep well suited for the recent frigid weather and supports conjecture that it is an icelandic sheep, a breed known to be large and hardy. On this week's cover: Celebrating 20 years of giving at Kapco. There were balloons, Christmas decorations, holiday treats and, of course, mountains of donated toys at Kapco’s 20th annual Kids2Kids Toy Drive Celebration of Giving Day Saturday at the Kacmarcik Center for Human Performance at the company’s Grafton headquarters, where Nikki Donath (left) and Jenni Weigend were among the many volunteers helping to spread holiday cheer. On this week's cover: The first snowman of the season is a beauty. Right on cue for the beginning of the holiday season, a Saturday, Nov. 29, snowstorm turned Ozaukee County into a winter wonderland, and adding to it by building a handsome snowman in Grafton were the Hoctor children — Nolan, Liam, Audrey, Nina and James. There’s still three weeks to Christmas, but given the current weather outlook, the snowman has a chance of surviving until the holiday. Photo by Sam Arendt
