Every staff member has a type.

Big dogs? Somebody's favorite.�Cats? Somebody else's specialty.�Nervous wallflowers? We've got an expert for those.

But our department head's type?
"Reactive, fearful, can’t be handled."

We know. It's a very specific preference, but it comes in handy at the shelter!

That's how she met Momma. Momma was so overwhelmed and frightened that she wouldn't allow most staff members to handle her, so we called in the big guns! In twenty minutes these two were sitting together on the floor like old friends, complete with ear scratches and belly-deep relaxation.

Momma is a smaller adult Heeler mix who is having a tough time adjusting to shelter life. She's looking for an experienced adopter with patience, understanding, and a willingness to let trust grow on her timeline.

Because behind all those worries is a sweet girl who's just waiting for someone to make her feel safe. ❤️
