On December 14, 2025, filmmaker and educator Courtney Hermann joins G. Chesler at Portland’s Tomorrow Theater for Directing the Documentary, an evening of conversation, clips, and reflection on documentary filmmaking. Hermann, co-author of Michael Rabiger’s seminal text Directing the Documentary, will discuss her award-winning films and the evolving art of documentary as both craft and human connector. Co-presented with NW Documentary, Catalyst Film Collective, Women in Film Portland, and Oregon Media Lab this will be a unique gathering of media artists across our independent film communities in Portland. Presented by G6 Pictures, this event was made possible by RACC.

Have you ever wondered how you should talk to a colorist? Or what a colorist even does? Have you struggled to put together a post production budget? Have you spent hours trying to decipher the process of prepping your film for post?
Come hang out with the folks from Aesthetica Post for a 2 hour workshop on all things post production and picture finishing. We will cover some tips on shooting for post, prepping and moving into the online process, what questions you should be asking of your colorist, and some language you can use in the color process. We will also talk post production budgeting, equipment needs and how to plan for the final phases of finishing your film. Followed by a Q&A and late happy hour. Drinks and snacks provided.
