LOST & FOUND ANNIVERSARY EXCLUSIVE!!!!
Today marks six years since the first "Lost & Found" show was broadcast on 90.9 WMPG!! In honor of the occasion, I thought I'd share some exclusive music trivia here on Facebook that I've already shared on the air, in case anyone missed it. (You can still hear it on the April 4th episode in the WMPG online archive. I'll share the link again soon.)
Last week, I commemorated the sixth anniversary of the show with a special episode where I played overlooked & underappreciated classic hits that I've played on previous shows, as I do for every anniversary. One of the songs in that show is Debbie Gibson's "No More Rhyme," a track from her Electric Youth album that reached #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989. I decided to play it again because I recently picked up some inside information about that song's music video that I didn't know when I first played it last August.
A few weeks ago, I went to '90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, and I had the best time seeing so many celebrities from my youth. One of the famous faces at the event was Danica McKellar, a.k.a. Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years, who appears in the beginning of the "No More Rhyme" video playing the cello. I asked her about her experience making that video—which she remembers very fondly—and she told me that the production team was led to believe that she could play the cello. She couldn't, but she learned how to play it well enough to make it look realistic enough for the video. How's that for getting into character? (Of course, you don't actually hear her playing the cello—Bob Osman is the credited cellist on the song itself.) Also, Danica was an absolute dream—every bit as sweet in person as you'd hope she'd be. She even complimented my scarf! 😁
"Lost & Found" will be live on the air again next week (Tuesday, April 18th, from 1:30-4:00 AM). In the meantime, keep watching for updates on the Music Madness tournament—the competition has been heating up this past week, and voting for the Sweet 16 ends tomorrow!
