The folks at Caring.com hit the nail right on the old noggin' with this piece about the benefits of reading for an aging population. Reading provides a whole list of cognitive, physical, and spiritual benefits, which is why Mirador Magazine, along with other adaptive text publications like Nana's Books, The Resense Register, and Songs & Smiles are so important to people for whom traditional publications are not longer accessible.

The article also mentions the community benefits of libraries, which we also wholeheartedly agree with!

We are dedicated and serious about providing adaptive, accessible reading materials so that people of all abilities can continue to engage with the world around them. So, we've got some exciting news to share with you all .. quite exciting news!

We often get requests to send our magazine abroad, and while we can ship Mirador pretty much anywhere, postage can get expensive once we go International ... in some cases prohibitively so. But, thanks to our new partnership with Suffolk-based Softwood Books and Gipping Press, we will now be printing in the United Kingdom for our UK readers.

We are currently taking orders for our first shipment, which will head out the doors on October 1st. If you know of anyone within the UK that would be interested in learning more ... please share!

On a personal note, this is such an amazing thing for us and we are so appreciative of all the people who have helped introduce us in England - particularly our dear friends Peter Berry and Deb Bunt as well as Dr. Carol Sargent and Clare Morris!

Mirador Magazine's Nikki Jardin will be back in Kansas City, MO for the 4th Annual Night of Hope Gala on Saturday, June 8th. Last year's event was so lovely and it's been wonderful seeing the work has been up to this past year.

The Night of Hope believes that together we can champion brain health, embrace early detection, empower prevention, and explore the potential for cognitive reversal.

It's funny sometimes, how we can miss what is right in front of us! As I was walking back to my car I just happened to look up and see a big, beautiful mural by Ernesto Maranje. We featured Ernesto in Volume 6: Skylines and Avenues, and he was gracious enough to let us put one of his works on his cover. I knew there were two of his murals in Portland, but I hadn't seen this one before. He is such an amazing artist, and you really get the power of his imagery live and in person. So, thank you, Ernesto for your gift of public art!
