I've never thought of a mission statement that way before. Most of the ones I've seen in the past have just been blamed corporate ones. I especially liked Russell's, because it felt raw and emotive, and that's what I needed mine to be.
My two brands are very different but also very alike. That's something I only realized very recently. The common thread through 11 books and over 300,000 words: Acceptance. Belonging. I wrire stories about people trying to find their place in the world when they've always felt like an outsider.
