Teachers - do you use news and current events in your classroom? Based on the experience of my children I know how engaging and effective it can be. Attensa's recently introduced connector for Teams allows curated news and current event briefings to be delivered into Teams channels. “It's like you know what I’m interested in”
When we designed the new Attensa we had some really clear goals. Whenever I can, I ask how people approached staying informed before. Or as a friend describes it – what is your awareness game? In this case, the self-proclaimed information j***y explained that before Attensa they relied on RSS feeds and lots of email newsletters.

I am not sure when the first email newsletter was sent but I am sure it was before the introduction of RSS which was 22 years ago. Think about what else has changed in those 22 years. Don’t get me wrong. I am a fan of both newsletters and RSS. Attensa Briefings are highly personalized forms of a newsletter and RSS is great for distributing content on the web but reading RSS to keep up to date has been described as drinking from a fire hydrant. How do you know?
Is staying informed important to you? For most of us it is in both our professional and personal lives. Given all the news and information available in our connected world, it seems like this should be the golden era for living informed. But sorting what’s personally relevant from everything else is increasingly complex. How do you know you're paying attention to the right sources at the right time? I.e. Dealing with oceans of information
Full disclosure, the inspiration for this post was looking out at the Pacific Ocean over the weekend. I have always liked the analogy comparing the flow of information to the flow of water. Watching the waves come onshore makes me think about the constant flow of news, analysis, and perspective every day. It seems like new sources are coming online every day from platforms like Sub stack, Medium, and podcasts. We recently introduced a new feature that accelerates the curation by enabling the curator to build a curation model for any Attensa and then apply the model using machine learning to find their desired content faster or fully automate the process.

The curation or refinement of news and information is increasingly important and necessary to deal with the overwhelming amounts of content related to the work that we each do. Curation helps us focus on the information we care about and save time in the process. The importance of this will only increase with time.
