Hi Facebook friends. I just remembered that not all my BikePortland posts show up here and that perhaps some of you aren't aware of the big announcement I made last week.

I'll be back in touch soon as the future becomes more clear. For now, thanks for all your support and understanding as BikePortland moves into its next chapter.

The community needs to reset their expectations of BikePortland. For now, at least.

Hi everyone! As part of my hiatus-ing, I’ve been thinking a lot about the past. All the cool stories and people I’ve met doing this weird job for so long. The other day while hanging in the Shed, I looked at my stack of old notebooks and thought, ā€œWhat if I just opened one and started reading?ā€ Then I thought, ā€œWhat if I shared that in a video and told some stories about what I found?ā€. So I did.

I think this is a fun way to share some history and it helps my brain to recall these stories.

As you watch this one (which touches on a few weeks of October-November 2009), keep in mind this is just a few weeks of stories. From a panel of Europeans visiting Portland, to farmers in Washington County, local businesses, and handmade bike builders — it really shows the wide editorial scope of BikePortland. That was part of what I loved about the job back in the day.

If folks like this, I could do tons more. This is just a few pages from one notebook... and I’ve got about 30 more on the shelf! It feels good to recall the past right now as I try to figure out my future.

Thanks for all your support. Stay tuned and I’ll see you on the streets. šŸ˜Žā¤ļøšŸ’ŖšŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

The new feature film, A Simple Machine, is an adaptation of a 2011 book written by Evan P Schneider. I sat down with Evan and the film’s director, Mark Alan Hoffman, to learn more about this very exciting project that puts Portland and a bicycle on the big screen!

The book and film are excellent and I cannot wait for the big premiere at Hollywood Theater on April 16th!

Catch full interview on YouTube.

New podcast out now features my interview with Board Member and organizer Cameron Bennett.

We talked about the big legislative win they scored last session with passage of HB 4007 - a bill that changed legal e-bike riding age, makes it illegal to sell e-motos as e-bikes, and defines ā€œmicromobility deviceā€ in Oregon law for the first time.
