Please try our software for PCs only at this time at www.mobycorp.com
Popular email and social networks are centralized client-server/cloud services with file size limits, storage and bandwidth costs. We also don’t own our data in these systems and they lack security, suffering all kinds of hacks.
Moby’s “Email without Limits” is an unlimited collaborative email-like platform that compliments and interoperates with legacy services. Email has become a hub for communications and we aspire to providing a similarly productive and useful experience on our new, patented unlimited and secure architecture. That said, Moby isn’t intended to be a full-feature replacement for users’ services initially but a complimentary high performance, secure low cost digital parcel service that interoperates with legacy services.
Moby is led by the team that developed P2P email at our prior company Scayl. We have been working on the difficult problems of the email ecosystem for many years. We’re proud of this effort to enable email-like ease of use to just send anything of any size directly to each other with high security. A lot of people are skeptical that anyone can finally improve how the 50-year-old email system works. We just persistent enough to prove it can be done. Some ideas just can't be killed, like our new namesake Moby and our peer-to-peer approach to the service. It's a fresh start for us under the Moby banner.
We are refactoring the interfaces. The software is working internally, but we want to be on at least both PC and Mac before our first new release as we work our way onto mobile platforms.
Moby is intended to help professionals who work with very large files, raw image albums and videos. Broadcasters, journalists, and film makers can send in their 4K raw videos for editing and play on all displays. Architects and engineers with huge files and folders can share them directly and privately. Radiologists can send raw medical images to trauma surgeons. Commercial printers can receive high resolution raw files. We will be charging for your domain name services on a monthly basis, much like others do in the market.
Consumers will enjoy free Mobymail.com service and finally be able to send their 100's of vacation photos, and large videos from their cell phones to family and friends.
We have a lot of other exciting things on our roadmap ahead, but first things first, we are going to enable everyone to send really big files and folders as easy as email, directly, privately and securely.
Some stats and story details about Moby to whet your appetite as we are working on our pre-release:
Our prior software was previously downloaded in 4000 cities worldwide - and boy were we excited to see that happen - yet it was not encrypted yet and users required encryption.
End-to-End Encryption: Good news on the security requirement! We have added end to end encryption - except when you want to play a video file as it is arriving - but we do have a fix for that.
Any Size: Our record email attachment thus far is a 110 GB full length raw editable film, well beyond the settings of popular email box and drive services. There is no inherent limit. Files and folders are far easier to send and find with Moby. I don’t know about you but I sure want to finally be able to send a whole set of vacation pics or minutes of video to friends and family more easily. Meanwhile professionals are really suffering with limited and sometimes no easy solution to get there really large image, video and big data files delivered short of sending physical media through the mail.
Speedy: Moby transfers faster too. Files go to recipients over the Internet go 3.5 times faster than cloud boxes like DropBox and far faster at LAN/WIFI/WAN speeds between peers when users are in the same high-speed network.
Cost and Pricing: We don’t have to charge for storage like many do because it’s your stuff and your storage. Gone are these $10 / month for storage box deals with Moby. We do plan to charge for business domain name services and provide Mobymail email service free for consumers.
Contacts & Groups: We also have some good progress on groups and transforming contacts into user-owned profiles.
Plays with Others: Moby will interoperate with your existing communications services, legacy email, etc.
We look forward to listening attentively to our users and dialing in Moby so that it positively delights us all.
