Adventures in Storytelling

Adventures in Storytelling Follow Holly and Wayne Paige and Wave One Films as they navigate the world of visual storytelling. Here's a little bit about us. So welcome to our world!

Adventures in Storytelling is our newest platform to share some of our favorite video stories with you. We met in 1990, when the assignment editor at Salt Lake City's KTVX-TV sent us out to cover a news story. We've been telling stories together ever since. Wayne captures moments with his camera; Holly sets the scene with well-chosen words. We produce stories for our two companies, Digital Wave an

d the Wave One Films. We also tell stories just because we can. In all our stories, we focus on people whose passion and purpose make the world a better place. We're glad you're here!

Music is such an important part of our lives, but not all children have equal access to learning an instrument. That's when Ethos Music Center in Portland comes to the rescue. Wave One Films produced this short fundraising film in 2013, highlighting Lara Evans and the 20 Voices Concert, to raise money and awareness for Ethos. Lara currently works for Knitting Factory Management in NYC.

Easterseals Oregon does such great work in our state.
In this story we produced for Easter Seals Rogue Valley in 2007, you will see how they look after those who can't look after themselves.
We love Easter Seals for that!

When leaders from the Pasadena Independent School District in Texas decided to build a new high school dedicated to career technical education (CTE), they told the designers from the Texas Studio of IBI Group that they wanted this building to look like a place that honored the dignity of work.

In producing this video case study for the Texas Studio of IBI Group, Wave One Films spent a week in Pasadena, Texas. While there, our team interviewed school staff and district officials to learn what they wanted to see in the new building. We also interviewed the designers to better understand their design philosophy as it related to this project. We filmed CTE classes to show how students used the building. And we worked with a drone team to capture dramatic footage of interior and exterior design elements.

The completed video told a story about the role educational design plays in creating a space that meets the need of a new generation of learners.

Wave One Films’ scope of services for this project included research, logistics, story planning, on-camera interviewing, filming, director of drone photography, story production, editing, motion graphics and digital delivery.

Some stories can't be rushed. Case in point: the restoration of the Hallock-McMillan Building, Portland's oldest cast-iron facade building built in 1857.
We started filming this story in 2011, when building owner and developer John Russell hired us to capture the sand molding and iron pour processes of the Hallock-McMillan's decorative elements. Fast forward to summer 2013, when we wrapped up production of the story we call A Glorious Revival.
